I would like to know if my daughter will be able to wear earrings after plebe summer. If so, are pearls ok?

DD will be able to wear studs after PS. She will find acceptable size, shape, and colors in Midregs under uniform standards, but if it's like it used to be, they can be 1/4" or smaller, gold, silver, or pearl.

It's my understanding that the girls can wear small gold studs during Plebe summer. I think this is what it said in the PTR packet. Is this correct?

I am learning but what does "DD" stand for?

I will look through it tonite as well. Pretty sure its gold studs for the summer and then the option of pearls only for formal occasions thereafter.

Yellow gold ball studs. Uniform regs specifies a no-larger-than mm size, so not huge. Worn in the lobe, not higher up the ear. Take along plenty of backs. Pearl studs are worn with dinner dress/mess dress uniforms, but not service dress or other uniforms. DD will figure this all out. I think the earrings are available in the Mid Store. Earrings will be least of worries. She will probably not want to wear them during the day's activities during plebe summer, or may not be allowed to, but wear them at night to keep the holes open.

From Navy Uniform Regulations, which I assume USNA follows the same for Uniform Regulations:
(2) Women. One earring per ear (centered on earlobe) may be worn while in uniform. Earrings shall be 4mm - 6mm ball (approximately 1/8 - 1/4 inch), plain with shiny or brushed matte finish, screw on or with posts. Gold for officers/CPOs, and silver for enlisted personnel. Small single pearl earrings are authorized for wear with Dinner and Formal Dress uniforms.

As an aside, earrings make a great h.s. graduation gift for women. The "official" ones for in uniform and others for time on liberty (more often used after plebe year but good for a lifetime).
