I've been thinking of DORing for over a month now, and I finally made my decision to leave yesterday. It was comforting to see someone was in my exact shoes only a year ago. I have a security net, and I know this is right
This may not be the right time or place for everyone and I wish you all the future success in your life. The tools you've used to get this far will serve you well in your future.

Health and sanity first, accept and feel positive about your decision, don't look back with regrets, Chin-up and onward. Wishing the best of the best for you on whatever path is next.

My daughter faced these illnesses in high school for years. I feel for all that go through this. I suspect we will see this happen more often in the future years.

The good news is she got the help she needed, and is now thriving in her second year working towards her doctorate in child psychology.

1 post from the original author on a one year old thread.. Doubt they have ever come back to the forum.

2026usna, talk with your leadership, talk to the chaplain, talk to medical. Make the best decision for yourself and your well being. DOR is a huge choice and feels like the world falling apart on you (trust me, I know), but it is also what some people have to do and in a few years, it will be something in your past as you moved on.

(Oh, and being SWO isn't all that bad! Even if you "5 and dive," you become a jack of all trades, and have tons of real world leadership experience that so many companies want).

My best friend is a SWO and absolutely loves it. Driving a destroyer is pretty cool. Being a WEPS is pretty cool.

My Dad was career SWO (until he finished his CO tour, and then he pushed reports/pencils in DC to close out his 30 years). It was really cool seeing all the different things he's done and learned over the years. Really is a jack-of-all-trades kind of field.
