I just found out through DoDmets that I was disqualified from USAFA and USNA because of eczema after the age of 12. Is this something I can get waived because I've seen conflicting articles and posts online?

Comply and provide all info that DoDMERB requests. Waivers go case by case. I got one, others may not have gotten one.

Correction: DoDMETS did not reveal you were DQ. DoDMETS just shows the progress of your exams PRIOR to being provided to DoDMERB, where the decision was displayed.

Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "Questions on the process;" If you meet the criteria in paragraphs 11-12.....then 15-19and 21 will apply :wiggle:

Sorry, I mistyped. DoDMERB states that I am not medically qualified and that I am under waiver review. I received an email today stating that my DoDMERB status was updated and saw that the eczema was the reason for the medical disqualification.

"under waiver review." = Misleading. It means that all your medical information was posted to USAFA and USNA

Admissions will determine if you are under waiver review. :wiggle:

Oh okay. Does that mean the academies will inform me if I can be considered for a waiver? Thank you for your help

My son is also medically disqualified for eczema and here is how I understand things. If an academy deems you a competitive candidate, they can initiate a waiver request process for you. Additional information or a specialist visit may or may not be requested after that. All you can do is wait patiently and keep checking the academy and DODMERB portals.

We happen to know from one academy that they have requested a waiver for my son. Short of having a conversation with each admissions team, I’m not sure there’s a way to know who has and has not done that. To your initial question, all I can say is that I certainly hope and pray that it’s possible! Good luck to you!

In case you wonder why eczema can be such a big deal to the Armed Forces:
