Email Adress name

This might come off as a goofy question to most but does your email address name influence admissions? Of course I'd understand if your email Address had something bad in it but me, like many others, created it when I was about 9 years old, making it a goofy name. Nothing bad in it, but it definitely does being a few laughs and giggles to most who may read it. Should I create a new email with a more professional name or should I be fine if I kept that one?

I am no expert, but I would change it to a professional one with your name.

First impressions means a lot. At USNA, for job applications, other things, etc.

Keep the old one for your family and friends.

Going forward, you may want to have a “friends and family” email, and a professional name.name@gmail.com no-frills email, that you use for outward-facing applications, resumés, financial accounts, hotel/airline loyalty programs, etc.

If there are opportunities to edit profiles going forward, you can switch things over.

But don’t worry about it from an Admissions standpoint. They have seen everything from people your age. One of our USNA midshipman sponsor family “sons” got in with “wodgerwabbit.”

Yup. I did submit my NASS application and got my acceptance via that email however. When I register my new email would I have to fill out the preliminary application again?

I don’t know. can you change your email on the portal?

You might also want to think about your voicemail greeting...what is "cool" to your friends may not be a good impression to your BGO .....just saying !

If you don’t use or listen to voice mail, you may want to set up your vmailbox and check it on occasion, so you have a wider array of comms channels. Humans can now communicate in an astonishing number of ways, so being conversant in older technologies is simply being more fluent and adaptive.

Your vmail message can be as simple as “Hi, this is Watertight Door. Please leave a message.”

I suggested it in an earlier thread but I would set up an email address specifically for all SA communications and use it only for that purpose. Helps ensure no messages are missed, overlooked or buried in spam.

your absolutely right I completely forgot about that. I just remembered my voicemail is one of those that makes you think I picked up then says "just kidding this is a voicemail" at the end. Should probably change that just for a few months while admissions is going on

Yeah I just set up an email specifically for colleges and for anything professional going forward
