A friend of mine is a year enlisted in the Marine Corps. Reserves. He wants to get an NROTC scholarship to a university in state, Embry Riddle. How hard is it? On campus scholarship is his best bet as of now but he's not so sure he will be looked at the same as those who are just graduating high school. He did very well in hs with a 3.5 gpa and rotc extracurricular stuff as well as a high rank in rotc. Advice/tips?

He should apply for the 4 year high school scholarship. It doesn't matter if they look at him differently or not. What's he going to do if they look at him differently anyway? Give up? What does he have to lose by applying? This seems pretty simple to me.

But what are his chances of actually obtaining a scholarship is what hes worried about. Hes going ro apply but the chances of his getting the scholarship due to him not being fresh out of high school is what worries him.

No one here can know the answer to that question and it would vary from year to year, and also the competition he is up against is a factor. I can tell him that if he doesn't apply, his chances are 0%. If he applies, it's something higher than that.
