Hi all,

I was wondering about the tests that you can take to skip out of certain classes. If you are able to test out of certain classes does that mean that you can take less classes during your 4 years. For example (hypothetically speaking): If you were able to test out of Calc I,II,III, and a couple others, would that mean that you would have 4 or so less classes during your time at the academy, or would you have to replace them with something else? I heard somewhere that you have to take a total of 132 credits, so is there really any way do decrease that load.

Thanks everyone

The advantage to testing out is that it frees up space for other classes you might be interested in. You will take the same full load. Some people choose a particular minor or have additional classes they are interested in. But you'll still take the same minimum credits as everyone else. Remember; it's been said before; and this NOT a HYPOTHETICAL. You could have a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering from MIT; and you'll STILL take the full degree program at the academy if you choose to go there. So all testing out of classes does, is allows you the latitude to take other classes you would like.

ok, thanks Christcorp for clarifying that for me. I wasn't sure if those test were meant to lighten your class load or just to get past those classes so you could take something else.

Thanks

Some people take more than the minimum class load. So, for them, validating classes could reduce their load (from extra back to normal).

ok, so if for some reason you had some extra classes to take, those tests could help you out? I think I got it now. Thanks for the answers.

Thank you

Validate everything possible.

If the next level is too hard, you can always move back down, but you can't move up if the lower class is too easy.

It opens up time to take more classes or lessens your load later.

I've never heard of validation hurting anyone, only the opposite.

My boys validated some subjects and both were really glad they were able to do that.
