Hi everyone, I️ was looking through some of the papers I️ received at my admissions tour last Thursday. One of the pamphlets I️ received had a list of majors and listed environmental engineering as one. Another pamphlet I️ looked through did not list it on the list of majors. I️ checked the website and it does not list that major either.... can someone confirm if this major exists at the academy or not??? I️ am very confused as to why it was listed in one place but not another. Thanks for any help.

The Environmental Engineering major was dropped in 2014. You must have been given an old brochure by mistake.

The Environmental Engineering Major now shows up under Civil Engineering on the USAFA website.

It's probably one of those minor sections, a "concentration," within a major. My Physics major had a concentration in nuclear physics.

The current curriculum handbook (https://www.usafa.edu/app/uploads/CHB.pdf) shows the Civil Engineering major being sponsored by Civil and Environmental Engineering department, but I don't see a formal Environmental Engineering emphasis. The handbook (page 132) indicates "Like the civil engineering profession, the Air Force civil engineering career field is also broad, including architects, electrical engineers, and mechanical engineers, as well as civil and environmental engineers." There could be something I'm not aware of, but did not see a formal Environmental Engineering emphasis listed in either the USAFA web site or the curriculum handbook.

Things change from year to year...

*As the adoring wife of an architect, I don't think he would classify architecture under any heading but "architecture." Sometimes those handbooks do a little bit of a s t r e t c h.
