Hello, I was wondering if someone could give me more information on how competitive it is to become an EOD Officer out of ROTC. I saw some information here: https://goordnance.army.mil/od-cadet-branching/docs/EOD Education.pdf that states that 50-55 people get EOD out of rotc and the average stats are "
Academic GPA of 3.45, Military GPA of 3.5, and APFT of 280".

What is the army looking for in a person when considering them for EOD? Does your academic major matter? I know this question has been answered but is there any "easy" way to get OML points? Is the APFT still used or has the switch to the ACFT been made yet (if they have switched, does anyone know the average stats for ACFT)? Also I read that there is an additional service commitment and was wondering if anyone could confirm this.

I once had a bad day with EOD Night actually. It was 21:30 minus five. Or so they told me.

First you have to be willing to be an Ordnance Officer if you dont get picked for EOD, since EOD isn’t a branch. You pick Ordnance then apply for EOD. Its kind if a bait and switch. Ordnance officers deal with ammunition and maintenance. You interview and if they like you they pick you. If they dont like you, enjoy dealing with ammunition and maintenance in your career.

Can you apply to go EOD if once you are an ordnance officer?
