Hi guys,

I am currently working on the evaluations and recommendation letters for the Academy application (the ones for Math, English, and other teachers). Does anyone know what the evaluation emails that the Admissions office look like (what is on them and such). Is it just like a multiple choice survey of the student? I am trying to find out so that I can decide who to have do a recommendation letter, and who I want to do the evaluations.

Thanks everyone

Actually; if you look at your ONLINE application, there should be a place to be able to DOWNLOAD the questionnaire for the teachers. However; if you already provided the email addresses for the teachers, it's "Possible" that it's no longer there to look at being an email will be sent. Anyway, look at your online app again. mike....

I can't find the link to download on the online application (no I have not submitted any of them yet). The only links that I can find are for the "Instructions to Precandidates booklet," and the "Instructions to Candidate Booklet." There are no links on the actual "Selection of Evaluators" Page. Maybe I am just not seeing it or something.

It was in the actual application. Right where you would put in your teacher's email addresses. It said to click to download the actual questionnaire or something to that affect.

My son started his application 2 years ago. It's possible that things have changed on the application since then. If so, I'm sorry but I can't help. But there use to be a place to download it and have the teacher do it manually. I'll see if I downloaded it any place, but no promises. Maybe someone else remembers this. Later.... Mike.....

Mike they have changed the web site, so they might have changed the applicant portion too

I do recall it was a multiple choice and they had to write a letter.

That is fine if you can't find it. Thanks for trying. I will assume that it is just a type of survey (multiple choice questions) since they also ask for 3 letters of recommendation in addition to the evaluations.

It's ok if you can't find your copy Christcorp. It may have changed anyway.

Thanks guys

There is a place for you to download the questionnaire for teachers. If you look at the fine print underneath the evaluator selection form box, it says:

*It is preferable that your instructor complete the form emailed to them. However, if your instructor has problems accessing the form by email you can print this form, give to your instructor to complete, and the instructor can fax the completed form to the Air Force Academy at 719-333-3012.

On the form, it asks the teachers to rate the student on:
1. Works towards group goals when in a subordinate position
2. Influences others in a positive manner
3. Demonstrates personal integrity
4. Communicates effectively in face to face discussion
5. Communicates effectively in written work
6. Exerts maximum effort showing a strong desire to achieve in every field
7. Sets high standards for own performance in a number of areas of activity
8. Accepts criticism and makes improvement from it
9. Adjusts to a demanding schedule of activities without neglecting school work
10. Accepts full responsibility for own actions
11. Persists when solving problems
12. Seeks academic challenges beyond that required by normal course work

The teacher can rate the student (1) top 1%, (2) top 10%, (3) above average, (4) average, (5) below average, or (6) not observed.

The application also has a section for the teacher to make comments on the student's academic performance and potential in the teacher's discipline, and how the student compared to the rest of the class, along with the student's traits and special circumstances in the student's background.

Thanks armybratkl, but I still cant find it. Thanks for describing it to me though, that helps a lot.

Finding teachers on vacation

My son is finding it very difficult to reach his teachers to give them a "head's up" that AFA will be emailing an evaluation request. They're all on vacation and the skeleton crew at the school over the summer says "all contact info" for the teachers is locked up until the end of July. He can only send emails to their school email, which isn't being monitored by the teachers. He's having the same issue trying to schedule his CFA...no one around or in contact. When teachers return in August, he'll get this all done, but that 45 day request is problematic. Anyone else have similar frustrations and how important is that 45 day period? What if it's closer to 60 days? Thanks
