We (parents) have seen the Snapchat pictures of the events in Bancroft in the last 48 hours. We (parents) collectively have the same question: How often, if ever, are professional exterminators called to Bancroft to exterminate? Is there a way to treat the ceilings as well as the walls? Nice to know rat traps work and drill bayonets can be used for something besides drill. Will plebes now get "carry-on " privileges for dispatching Ginormous Rat to that big cheese wheel in the sky? If any current mids are reading this, you can expect to have rat traps being mailed to you in the next couple of days.

Seems it's been an issue for awhile - this article is from Jan. 1, 1999:

It's great to see some things never change! I don't recall ever seeing a professional exterminator, but some of the details of the story could have been written 30+ years ago, i.e hearing them run in the ceilings when laying in the top rack, and Plebes competing to catch the most. I recall two rooms having a competition and hanging their daily body count by the tail on the bulletin board by the door so all could see. Our Company Officer, a non-USNA grad, prior enlisted Marine Major who didn't always toe USNA 's politically correct line was amused and encouraged it.

What events occurred in the last 48 hours ? Perhaps somethings are better left off social media ...

I have a friend on the Navy Powerlifting team who graduated from my high school three years ago...saw a disturbing post on Instagram of the (finally) dead rodent that was getting into her protein powder. I think Navy needs mousers o_O

As 85 said, glad to see some things haven’t changed.

@GoArmy2022 Army is not immune. Our son says that a couple of the USMA barracks have had a real problem, and the best solution was some sort of see-saw device with a piece of cheese at the top end that dumped the rodent into a bucket of water. Not sure a dead, wet rodent beats a live, dry one. Of course there was a competition (hopefully not Top Chef style). He says the real problem right now is Madagascar-sized cock roaches.

Well one day at USAFA, my DD came back to her room to find over 30 oranges placed about:bleh2:

Care to share the Snapchat resource?
Let's just say it is a very graphic picture of a dead rat. I don't mean little, slightly larger than a mouse, run of the mill ordinary-looking, type of rat. Instead, picture a rat that is about the size of a house cat, with a very long tail and two large sharp fangs protruding from its upper mouth, in what appears to be full rigor mortis. I'm sure I'm not the only one who was having nightmares about rats last night after seeing the photo.

Mids seemed to have a sense of humor about it, though, with amusing in a sick-humor -sort-of -way comments about government shutdowns and dinner menus, among other things.

You sure that's not a lab rat? I've never seen a wild on with two or more colors. Some shade of gray usually.

DD sent me that picture yesterday and I was thinking, who sleeps good tonight knowing they are prowling around.
