Hi everyone,

Just wondering what types of extra curricular activities should a cadet participate in for improved score in the order of merit.

Thanks.

Ask your cadre for guidance on EC's. My DS's ROTC advisor gave him feedback on which EC's gave him the most points, but this can vary between Batallions.

On his case, he is in honor guard and cannon squad and was told that these were high in EC points.

A few of the MSIs in my son's unit are associates (they don't have 'pledges')with him in LCA frat that does a lot of community service hours with the local Feeding America program food banks, Is waiting to be issued a uniform so he can start taking some of the Color Guard Events and is applying for RA position next year in addition to taking Chinese and being active in the Confucius Institute at his school he may try to do a language program scholarship but he doesn't know much about how to apply he said he was interested in last year's ROTC application so not sure if he does a new ROTC scholarship nut just for the language program. We also don't know if Lakota is counted as a language he can get points for. Don't know either if his returning to his intern job during breaks with our Congressman counts as Full time job during those times or Community Service. He is actually a Senior Intern since he worked for 2 years and has trained DC and local office interns so does that earn leadership points.

In my daughter's Battalion, the majority of the cadets work as referee's for intramural sports, and there is a reason for that, the OML points. Her intramural bosses happen to be squad leaders. Her mentor got her set up with an application the first week and she starts as a referee this week. I wasn't sure that she really wanted a job right now, but sounds like it isn't too demanding, and she is working with a lot of her fellow cadets, which is great. She is also training with RC, only gets OML points if she makes the team, so we will see...

Thanks for all the help everyone. I was just notified that there were more posts.
