I am a 2023 candidate with a 4.3 gpa, 40/500 rank, 30 ACT, and a 1350 SAT. I am a three sport athlete, being named a captain in all three. I am a member of Key-club, NHS, and Various church groups including the nominating committee. My FFR told me to try to bolster my extra curricular activities/ leadership. She also recommended me to redo my CFA (Basketball throw issue; have since improved). I have plenty of other outside volunteer involvement and also work with disabled athletes. Should i just put a list together of all my outside activities and send it to the application team? Any advice is welcome, just trying to become the best candidate and leader possible. Thank you in advance.

@KevBotss, with all due respect to what your FFR said, isn’t it too late to be taking on new activities that would be meaningful to a Class of 2023 applicant?

I wonder if there’s miscommunication here. At least on paper, your ECs and leadership roles seem in the ballpark of 3Q candidates. Perhaps the FFR meant you didn’t list all the pertinent activities. Have you already submitted your application? If so, any additions would require you to get permission of Admissions to reopen your application (and I’m not sure that’s easily done). If not, then answer the activities section fully and thoroughly; if you leave anything out that might be worth something, then that’s on you. Best wishes to you.

Thank you for your response. I have other Extra curricular activities that can be put in that i didn't consider as prominent in my West Point application. She told me to put in everything I have by sending her or the admissions team a list of the other activities. Everything is submitted currently, I am just waiting on my DOMETs stuff to download in. I do not intend on taking new activities as i am working 24/7 with groups and my veteran owned job. I will just shoot her a text to find out further, but I was just unsure what to do and knew people on here had solid insight. Thanks again.

I had a captainship update to my application after I’d submitted my Candidate Activities Record, so you need to tell your counselor/contact to email admissions to update it. They want to make sure it’s legit.

Last year my son continued to update his application via direct communication with his admissions coordinator. He received a local Wendy's Heisman and sent the coordinator a note with the award as an example.

So piggy backing off what you both said; I can update my extra curricular profile, but the information should come through my counselor via email to admissions?

As I recall, my son sent updates with certificates or substantiating documents directly to his admissions coordinators at the academies. He didn't filter them through his high school counselor. But, if your additions include school specific related updates.. I'd recommend you include a note or letter from your school. For example if you were just named CPT of your winter sport, you might include a letter from your coach or counselor etc..

My admissions contact specifically asked for my high school counselor to confirm my captainship, but your situation may be different. I read in the application instructions that updates to CAR require an email from your counselor to admissions, so this is what I did.

Any and all significant improvements and positive additions to your accomplishments and resume' are encouraged and expected by the selection committee right up until the point the window in your applicant portal hopefully has a green square of congratulations in it. And communicate these questions to your RC, it's what they do. Best of luck.
    Go Army.

Yes. Update any significance achievements anytime before Appointment. West Point will accept all. Make sure you send in all updates through your GC - Guidance Counselor at school. Give your GC the email to send to at WP. Good work with your accomplishments.
