I was wondering, if a MOC is out of office due to retirement/election, would they still have the option to notify you? Do they typically take advantage of it? And I second that, best of luck everyone! From all I have read it seems they usually give MOCs 72 hours to make notifications before they go live on the portal. Best of luck this week.

Do you need to have your 7th semester transcripts in before USMA can offer you an appointment?@Yankee23

Last year it was the 10th of January. Both dates were Tuesday. I must say that I’m honestly not too concerned about when the first batch will come out because my 7th semester transcripts won’t be available until the end of the month. Good luck to all of those out there who have everything in!

My DS has a 3Q letter but cannot turn his 7th semester transcripts in until the end of this week so he reached out to his FFR and was told it is not a problem and that many are in this situation and it "will not hinder his chances at all." Still, I feel like it could certainly delay things, especially since he does not have an LOA. The 3Q letter states most appointments will be given in late Feb to April.Do you need to have your 7th semester transcripts in before USMA can offer you an appointment?@Yankee23

Found this thread from a while back, I believe it still applies:

The gist is if you are 3Q'd you may receive an appointment prior to USMA receiving your 7th semester transcripts, not sure if these are LOA holders but still might be helpful
Perfectly said! Remember, mid January is VERY early in the process. 3Q letters often aren't posted until mid February. This process is a grind. Steel yourselves for it. I am pretty sure anyone that has been through this will agree that the waiting is a trial, but that little green box in the portal is worth the wait.OK kids...let's remember that it is a marathon not a sprint. Today is not the day, tomorrow is not the day--you are in it for the long haul and it may be late April.
All of us are cheering for all of you. That said...head in the game at school. It is ok to check your portal every single day but know that it could be 100 more days.
Good luck applicants!

Picture this: 12 to 14 officers sitting around a conference table. Each one has a duplicate of a candidate file. The senior officers read aloud highlights of the the applicant's files while the others follow along. The qualified candidate files, (Big, thick, comprehensive files) are reviewed and scanned in depth by the entire board. Copious notes are taken. Each officer present is holding a square peg six inches long. One end is green, the other red. At the completion of a file review, each member of the Admissions Panel is asked to vote on the candidate file just reviewed. Green end of the peg up for yes, red for otherwise. Votes are tallied.Perfectly said! Remember, mid January is VERY early in the process. 3Q letters often aren't posted until mid February. This process is a grind. Steel yourselves for it. They must do this approximately 1400 times.
The wheels of the Army roll slowly and the process is an exacting one.
The process cannot be hurried and it has been going on like this for a long time...
All the best to the Applicants
I saw a video of this process about a year ago. If I remember correctly the vid was circa 2012 or so. I am certain that there are many variables but for most applicants this seemed to be the practice.Picture this: 12 to 14 officers sitting around a conference table. Is this what happens? Wow!

I believe so! Check out this clip:It is part of a ~50 minute documentary about the service academies that I watched because I believe someone posted about it somewhere here on SAF. It is very cool to see how it actually happens.
Where does it say to check the portal this week? West Point Admissions FB page is all about the portal opening for SLE.
