Facebook post

A couple of years ago, WP Facebook posted picture of USPS totes full of BFE’s.

Out of curiosity/excitement, I searched for the image on Facebook, and linked it below for those who want to see. Go Army!

Just looked this pic up also and date says February 23rd, so I am assuming they will mail out again this year on or about February 23, praying for all during this wait, now enjoy school and college!

It is an exciting and stressful time for both the applicants and the parents, although I’m certain the kids are stressing most because of what’s at stake for them. 6 years ago we were lucky as my older DS received the BFE in early December so he/we didn’t endure this waiting game. Younger DS has a weaker file and is not recruited but probably wants it twice as much as my 2017 grad, this makes us want it for him so much more. DS has his plan B and C in place (waiting on AROTC and hoping for USMAPS). Good luck to all of you applying to Class of 2023, it’s an amazing moment opening the BFE, I hope you all are successful!

@Roadking i think we are the same—my oldest an LoA in Sept and the BFe in Oct. whereas the baby heard nothing until the BFE arrived in v late April. Hang in there for the long haul.

Picture this: 12 to 14 officers sitting around a conference table. Each one has a duplicate of a candidate file. The senior officers read aloud highlights of the the applicant's files while the others follow along. The qualified candidate files, (Big, thick, comprehensive files) are reviewed and scanned in depth by the entire board. Copious notes are taken. Each officer present is holding a square peg six inches long. One end is green, the other red. At the completion of a file review, each member of the Admissions Panel is asked to vote on the candidate file just reviewed. Green end of the peg up for yes, red for otherwise. Votes are tallied.
They must do this approximately 1400 times.
The wheels of the Army roll slowly and the process is an exacting one.
The process cannot be hurried and it has been going on like this for a long time...

All the best to the Applicants

Is this what happens? Wow!

I believe this is the video Walman888 is referring to. Check out this clip at 1:59:
It is part of a ~50 minute documentary about the service academies that I watched because I believe someone posted about it somewhere here on SAF. It is very cool to see how it actually happens.

The part of this video featuring the admissions committee is at the Naval Academy. This is not how it is done at West Point.

Gosh! Watching this video still got me so emotional. Good luck to all!

My DS was an LOA and did receive a letter in his portal stating he was accepted but that he would be receiving his packet in the first round of envelopes going out at the of February. I’m pretty sure the captain that sent him his letter put the wrong info in there. As of now we wait he hasn’t gotten a BFE yet.

Does your DS have that light bluish/greenish box on his USMA portal that has the accept button?

It’s in the lower center part of the screen.

Just courious, any appointment activity yet? I thought rumor was possible wave of appointments coming this week..

I don't really have a "dog in this USMA fight" but I'm still stressed.

@Susan707 You missed the big drop last week. Look at the appointments thread. It is hopping! The MMI sponsored candidates received appointments today.

Oh, I didn't understand, I saw last week. I thought another big drop was coming . You have to pardon me, I'm new to the process.

I'm happy for the MMI announcements.
