Failed alpha inspection! What's the consequences?

It depends on the Company. It could mean taking everything out of your room on a Saturday morning, the empty room get inspected, and you put everything back.

Well what did your DS say? Probably a Saturday inspection. It's honestly not that big of deal. They either half heartedly prepped for it with other things going on or they got an inspector who either was having a bad day, had an agenda or who some hard... It really isn't that big of deal, if they have to spend a weekend cleaning, they will laugh about it in a few weeks.

He just said it wasn't a big deal. We didn't want to give him too much pressure so we didn't ask further. Thanks.

With them being in 6 weeks and their PRT this weekend with an alpha thrown in for some... its one of those weeks Mids absolutely love. They should of just thrown in a bad Forestall speaker and SHAPE training and they would of covered all the things Mids love to do! At the beginning of the year and Plebe Summer alpha inspections seem like the end all be all. They are now at the point they realize they aren't and its just another thing you have to do.

Some battalions had SHAPE training this week ;) and there was a DAS. It was indeed quite a week.

+1 Socalmom, I'm feeling sorry for my plebe, too. Lately, he doesn't say much other than, "I'm studying" or "Catching up on homework because next week is busy." DS said he didn't do well in 6 wk exams. We've been encouraging him to take breaks ... I guess they don't call it the Dark Ages just because of the weather!

Definitely the dark ages. A few more weeks until spring break and the weather getting better. Once they get to that point the light is at the end of the tunnel for the end of Plebe Year. They are almost there! Academics don't necessarily get easier after Plebe Year, but life gets better and that helps a lot with school.

Congrats to all those who heard from their Mid and passed. Always a big one to got done and over! The bars will be busy tonight with a lot of happy Firsties completing their last one and ready for fleet standards!

It's kind of funny for the 1/C....Marine Officer-selectees will have to run double the distance (3 miles) and at fairly decent standards and Naval Officer-selectees will run the same distance and the standards get easier.

Very true. Teams will usually take them around their season. The brigade used to take our PRTs during reform each semester. Our team used to take it over Xmas break. I actually think the fact they moved it from reform times should be better. One year I took it 2 days after being underway on a ship with no treadmill. I think it was my worst score ever, I barely passed the run when I usually could meet the men's standard, not that semester.

The only thing that may be challenging in the USNA PRT is the 1.5 mi Run in 10:30. 45 push ups is cake (we actually have to do more at the Merchant Marine Academy (51) to pass. 65 sit ups isn't hard either. And I came from being a non-athlete who could barely do 10 push ups and couldn't even run a mile continuously before I started training.
