Failed Body Fat Test

I’m a 5’6” female who just recently failed the Body Fat Test (31% instead of 26%). Admissions sent me a message through the portal informing me that if they deem me competitive, they might ask me to be remeasured or request a waiver for me. I have a 1410 SAT, very involved in EC’s, went to State for water polo, and attended the Summer Seminar.

I was wondering if USAFA waives a good amount of candidates who may be outside the body fat but did well on their CFA?

Probably impossible for anyone on this forum to know. But fact is, you’ve been given a bit of hope, and that’s all that matters. Focus on what you can control and use this waiting time to decrease your body fat and improve on the CFA (if you haven’t submitted scores yet).

Is the body fat assessment accurate? My DD, who is 5' 7" and 134 pounds, cleared DoDMERB and then received notification to have a tape test performed. We thought it was odd since her body fat percentage is less than 25, but went ahead and scheduled the exam. The measurements were taken and submitted, confirming the 25 percent. However, she then received the same letter you did, stating that her percentage was 28. After reaching out to her admissions counselor, it was discovered that her height had been entered incorrectly, resulting in the skewed percentage. It has now been fixed in DoDMERB and should eventually get updated on the USAFA portal.
Bottom line: if you believe the percentage to be incorrect based on your height/weight/measurements, reach out to Admissions immediately and it should get resolved
Of course, if the percentage is accurate, you will just have to wait for the waiver request.
