I failed a class my fall semester of my senior year. I received a 59. I have received an appointment and I am going to contact admissions about this but I just wanted to know what the outcomes will be, could I lose my appointment over it? If I gave my circumstances of the situation would it help? My GPA unweighted is a 3.7 and weighted is a 3.9. Any information would assist me

I would provide the circumstances. You will get the best answer from your admissions counselor. To answer, yes the appointment is conditional on final grades.

Are they already aware of the failed class? If so no need to worry

It might depend on what the class was. Failing underwater basket weaving would not be a problem. Calculus? Maybe.
Why would you not share the circumstances? I don't mean here but with the academy.

Just lay low. I wouldn't notify them of it. If they do notice it and make it an issue you will have a chance to explain.

You wouldn't tell a first date about your third nipple would you?

Good grief - possibly the worst advice ever. At least in my orbit - we expect more from future commissioned officers.

Better advice - disclose it and accept responsibility for it.

I am glad I was not the only one taken back by some responses! This is an institution based on integrity and honor. If they have to bring it up to you, it will turn into something it did not need to be.

The final transcript is what your appointment is contingent upon. The fall semester is not the final grade, so you have what’s left of the spring semester to bust your chops, do extra credit, etc to get the grade up to passing.

Breathe! You will be ok. They will see the grade, your final transcripts are required. If your semesters run like our district, you have different courses this semester, so the grade is final. Today is a new day. Rock this semester and I seriously doubt there will be a problem. Get D and C's and there may be an issue. No one here can confirm for you the effects of one F. Life happens some things are out of your control. Put your energy on what you can control. You've got this.

Thank you. This was helpful.

You probably need to ask the question sooner than later, just so you know if you need to execute Plan B. But USAFA isn't requiring the information before your 8th semester is complete, so if you don't point it out sooner - you haven't done anything unethical.

USAFA will require your final transcript. However, not providing the information now is not an honor or integrity issue. If USAFA felt they needed to know now - it would be in the requirements list to provide 7th semester grades in January. (Please note - USAFA does request some candidates provide their 7th semester grades prior to making a decision).
