Failed Height and Weight

I am an Ms1 who is planning to contract the following year. I am waiting for an offer (GFRD).

I failed height and weight last week and tape (body fat was also high), overweight by 9 pounds. Completely my fault, too much sugar. I am currently on keto and that has already been helping, but I'm unsure on when another height and weight can be done.

Does this effect the offer or does it only affect me when signing the contract? I don't know if they somehow report it to the ROO or something and they stop the application submission.

For AROTC, you can’t contract without meeting the physical standards, which includes passing height and weight and the APFT. Those are conducted on the same day, and you should follow up with your chain of command as to when the next scheduled APFT will be administered.

Does it stop me from receiving an offer letter though? From what I can tell those are 2 different things, I can still receive an offer but I just can't sign it (contract) until those 2 things are met.

Technically, your ROO can offer you a GRFD without meeting the physical fitness standards. However, since you are an MS1, it’s likely your ROO will require that you meet the physical fitness standards before your unit offers you a scholarship.

Hasn't the Army switched from the APFT (Army Physical Fitness Test) to the ACFT (Army Combat Fitness Test) lately?

The ACFT supposedly stresses strength more than the APFT, i.e. it's all good to run fast but can you carry a wounded comrade to safety?

If you don't have an offer yet, how do you know you are going to get one? Some ROO's make the mistake of telling Cadets they are going to get an offer, but until that offer letter is signed and a control number is assigned you don't have an offer. Might want to talk to your ROO, if he told you an offer is coming. I know right now in our Brigade all requests for offers are on hold due to the budget. Keep dropping that weight and be ready if/when that offer comes.

Height/weight and APFT by regulation do not have to be conducted on the same day, and it’s actually encouraged that they are done separately although plenty of places will do them the same day out of ease on the part of the administrators. Too many soldiers feel like they have to fast before height/weight which leads to them not performing as well on the APFT that the two events are supposed to be treated separately whenever possible.

So for this fall will the APFT be administered for incoming Sophomore 3 Year Advanced Designees to contract? I read a few months ago on here that it is the CCFA (Cadet Command Fitness Assessment): https://www.serviceacademyforums.com/index.php?threads/army-pft-and-rotc-eligibility.79590/ Is this still accurate?
