Falcon Foundation Scholarship

Same here! Does anyone know the monetary weight of the Falcon Scholarship? And if it truly is a successful route to the Academy?

A Falcon Scholarship is THE Golden Ticket to USAFA! This is a proven program producing many successful AF officers. Example: Gen. Welsh, the outgoing Chief of Staff, was a Falcon Scholar.

Choose any of the prep schools. Attend. Keep your grades up. Stay out of trouble. Receive an appointment the next year.
DS attended NWP in California after receiving the dreaded TWE. He graduates June 2 along with most of his NWP classmates.

Congrats to all the new Falcons.

My son just received a Falcon Scholarship today as well. In the letter they sent him it mentions estimated out of pocket expense. Does this include room and board if he goes to one of the schools, or is that on your own?

Thanks...

My DS is hoping for a FF scholarship. Can you tell me how you received the news? Portal update? Does anyone know if they will all be announced today? Thank you, and congrats to those who have revived the great news!!

My son received an email, parents should too, and it was listed in the portal.

I would assume that most if not all of them are going out today based on the sudden surge of people receiving them... I found out on my portal, but there was no email for me to check my portal. How does the payment sheet at the bottom of the letter work?

Contact each prep school directly for specifics on costs, what the FF scholarship covers, what expenses are not covered, start dates, etc. These can change year to year and school to school.

Here is some basic info for Northwestern Prep where our DS attended. I highly recommend NWP based on our DS experience there and the preparation and friendships he received there, but any of the Falcon prep school programs are effective and will get your DS an appointment next year.

Congratulations everyone! I was hoping for one myself but unfortunately not this round I guess.

Email and portal offer of a Falcon Scholarship here as well. If you download the letter from your portal all costs are explained in the 2nd page.

JOY JOY JOY I can feel the energy in the air. Like awakening from a comma. A whole new chance at life, so happy for you all!

Yes it s a successful route to the Academy, Falcons as a group have the highest completion/graduation rate of any subgroup as stated by the Falcon Foundation!
As others have stated, an Appointment after a successful prep year is your's to loose.
Continue to be smart about your behavior as it could affect chances of a nomination (yes you still have to go through all of that again, however MOCs are aware of the Falcon program so it does help your chances of Nom) as well as the offer of an Appointment.
No crazy grad parties and such...consider every activity and prank as possibly having an impact on your Nom/Appoinment this fall and next spring.
There are plenty of prep options: full military MMI,NMMI to the unique program at NWP. Choose the prep that will best prepare you for life at USAFA. If you have been in IB/AP/ or dual enrollment maybe a full immersion in the military and regimental programs offered by the military prep schools is maybe a better choice than one that has more of a traditional college atmosphere. Maybe you have only been at a small hometown school or homeschool then possibly exposure to the "big pond" aspect of a split program like NWP might allow you to experience what it is like with thousands of others all around you with distractions, and learning to find your place in a bigger setting.
Choose wisely and carefully, you want the Falcon year to prepare you to succeed at USAFA...not just what looks like a easy or fun way to kill time waiting on next year's appointment!
You will be on a coveted path to USAFA, however, stupid decisions and behavior will cancel your Golden Ticket, don't mess up this wonderful opportunity at a second and very successful shot at finally arriving On The Hill!!

Our son has a Falcon Scholarship as of today-but no email for him or me. It was on the portal this morning; does still say candidate, and never had a TWE. There's more info for the Falcon at their website; usafa.org/falconfoundation. That lists the prep schools and their websites as well. From Kansas. Very Happy for our son!! No more Crickets!! Yea. Most of the expenses will be paid-we were told by Admissions.
