Hi guys,

This is my first thread I ever made. I received my Falcon Foundation scholarship around May this year and went to Northwestern Prep School. I have applied for all nomination sources including VP and presidential. Last week, my congressman and one of my senators didn't give me a nomination and I'm still waiting for my other senator. However, I have received a presidential nomination. I'm just worried that if I don't receive my other senator's nomination, I might get screwed over and not get appointed. I don't know how good a presidential nomination is seeing that only 100 appointments can be made from this source. My question I guess, is should I be worried, and is there any other source I can apply to?

There are two parts of the process and both require a nomination. The first step is the resolving of the primary slates. Those each have different numbers associated with them, MOC usually 1 or sometimes 2, Presidential 100 as you pointed out, Service connected vary by type.

Once those are done, the remaining 3Q with a nomination go to the National Pool and the first 150 are taken in rank order. After that, admissions can pick and choose to fill the class. These remaining slots are where the prepsters and foundation scholars get picked up if they do not win a slate.

As long as you have worked hard and done a good job this year, you should be fine and get an appointment in a few months. The source of your nomination is not that important.

No, don’t be worried, you have done your part and applied for every nomination source. Relax and enjoy your second semester of college:)

You're a Falcon! As long as you have a nomination and continue to meet the athletic and academic requirements, I wouldn't sweat it. (I know you successfully completed your prep school program) The Falcon Foundation website itself says:
"the Air Force Academy is committed to appointing Falcon Scholars who:
  1. Successfully complete their preparatory program
  2. Continue to meet the admissions guidelines
  3. Obtain a nomination valid for the year of entry into USAFA"
Just keep up the hard work second semester!

Agree with emtet. As a Falcon scholar, you are in a different pool for consideration. The requirement is to obtain a nomination, not multiple...and you got one. Even if you didn't have a nomination from the traditional methods, you have other options (VP and the Service Academy Superintendent nominations). Congrats on completing NWP and enjoy your civilian semester! I know my DD is looking forward to it!
