My son is a Falcon Scholar this year and is applying for the class of 2014. My question is should he use his high school teachers for the recommendations, or wait till he is at his prep school and use the prep school instructors. He knows it is beneficial to finish early and wasn't sure which way would help him more.

Thanks again for the help.

His prep teachers will provide the recommendations.
Relax! :thumb:

I probably could, and still will, google Falcon Scholar, but I'd rather hear it from someone on these forums. What is a Falcon Scholar, should I become one, and how do I become one?

Which prep school is he going to? They all have different policies.

Bottom line: If he has really good relationships with his teachers from high school, there is no reason why he shouldn't ask for a letter of recommendation. Many of the prep school teachers will write letters of recommendations for candidates if they are asked to...and they really know what the academy wants to hear. So it's up to him. I know I will be getting a couple from high school teachers just in case I end up needing them at my prep school. Better safe than sorry!

He is going to Marion Military Institute.

He is comfortable getting them from either high school or prep. I just wondered if there was a preference.

It's not really a letter of recommendation as you're used to seeing someone write a letter. You provide your teacher's email address on your application; and the academy send them an email with a link for them to do an online evaluation. At least that's how it was for my son.

Apologies for any confusion - I was able to make my qualified statement since I had "inside information".

Folks - as a member of MMI's SAP program, his teachers at MMI will provide his recommendations. Since the Falcon Foundation is helping to pay for his education, admissions will want to know how he is doing there.

The fine folks in the SAP program will ensure that his application is fully updated, that he has applied for his nominations and they will even make arrangements for his phone interviews with his MOC's.
It's a well-oiled machine.
