FVE emails went out today. I see from past posts here that 60 candidates attend each session. Is this program competitive similar to summer seminar? Or are invitees pretty much assured to have a seat? All the email asked for was a COVID form and SAT/ACT score to be sent.
 
There was also a link to a 5 page Google form to be filled out.

We were wondering if the dates September 28th to October 2nd, 2022 included the travel days or would those be additional days on 9/27 and 10/3.

Concur on the Google form. If FVE is anything like summer seminar it would be inprocessing the morning of the 28th, and done by noon of the 2nd with the chance to fly out in the afternoon. 27th would be a travel day.

I went to this last year and did not get an appointment. It was implied I would though.

However, the vast majority of my friends who went with me all got appointments. I was one of the few attendees who didn't get in.

Please let me know if you have any further questions about the program
 
That would be a fabulous weekend to be at USAFA. They play navy that weekend, I’m going out for the game if all goes well since I’m missing PW.
 
How does USAFA select the candidates for FVE? Do they select candidates who attend Summer Seminar?

From what I have found FVE is primarily a diversity boosting program. i.e. low applicant locations, minorities, and other highly desired interests with low representation. I don't think it has anything to do with summer seminar. I believe admissions culls through applications that are started to find candidates fitting the above criteria to invite.
 
Is FVE like CVW at USNA? I didn't get the impression that CVW was a "diversity boosting program." Or maybe they both are?

Former FVE and current cadet. That’s exactly how the program was explained to me! I come from a historically low area of interest and my initial stats looked promising. Since no one in my congressional district has ever been to the Academy, they invited me to see if USAFA was for me. 99% of the other HS students that went through it with me also got an appointment. I loved my time doing FVE. Please reach out if you have any questions!

i havent gotten a denial or acceptance for the program. Did the acceptance email come with travel arangements already made?
 
No. It probably will be made after the next deadline:

“Please complete these two action items by Sunday, September 18th, 2022 at 7pm Mountain Standard Time to ensure you are able to secure your spot in this program.”

BTW this is what it says regarding travel: “In addition to paying for your travel, USAFA Admissions will book your travel reservations and provide you the information after it is booked. Please do not make your own travel arrangements, as self-procured travel will not be reimbursed.“

Never mind.. finally figured out the PDF which includes a Traveler Worksheet. And in answer to our previous question above the travel dates seem to be 9/28 and 10/2.
