Hello, my daughter and I will be traveling to USAFA next week. She was invited to the FVE. I am wondering if any parents on this forum will be attending?
 
I'll be attending with my daughter as well. Really looking forward to it.
 
At what point in the application process would someone receive this invite? My DS just submitted his AFASS application.

We are too! I'm still trying to figure out what kind of involvement parents will have during the visit. Any idea?

Her application is complete. Her friend did the FVE in the Fall and her application wasn't complete. So...not sure!

I’m not sure. It sounds like we may be the first group of parents that have attended this at the invitation of the Academy. I keep feeling like I should rent a car in case we have a lot of down time, but there’s always Uber.

It’s really wonderful that parents are invited this time! Hopefully you will find out more what is planned for the parents soon.

If you have your own parents itinerary including transportation then you won’t need to rent the car. However if not, then I highly recommend you do rent a car. There are so many wonderful things to see in the area, and the USAFA campus itself is huge!

If DS is a junior the FVE would happen this fall or early next year. These are seniors or older applicants who are invited.

I don't believe Uber can enter the campus. Definitely not beyond the black gate for sure.

Do they plow the roads during the dark ages? We are coming in Feb to visit our cadets, thinking of cheering them up during the dark ages.

Yes, they definitely know how to handle snow out there.
 
Has anyone received transportation information from the airport to the hotel or a more detailed itinerary for the week? Would be helpful to know whether parents should look into renting a car.

Yes...a more detailed itinerary would be nice! I'm working off the general one that we received a week or so ago. My understanding is that we will be picked up from the airport and there will be shuttles to and from the hotel.

Ok, same here. My understanding as well, but flight leaves tomorrow and wanted to make sure we didn’t miss anything.
