Fall CVW

My son received his letter on Tuesday. He emailed very early Wednesday morning and we were told the sessions were full. Pretty upsetting to receive the letter one day and then be told the very next day the sessions are full!

Who did he e-mail? I got the letter Friday evening and e-mailed my RD Monday because there was no number. Haven't gotten a response so I guess I'm SOL for the Fall dates...

My son received the letter on Wednesday. We were leaving for Parents' Weekend at USAFA that afternoon so I had him email and call as soon as he got home from school. He just emailed the basic region3@usna.edu address (or whatever region yours shows on the CIS). He left another message on Thursday morning. Finally on Friday he got an email saying "We have just added your name and preference to our list. Due to availability issues we are still shuffling around names with certain weekends. We will be in contact with you shortly after the long weekend to confirm your date; as well as provide additional information about your visit."

On Tuesday he received a voicemail on his cell phone (the number he'd left while we were in Colorado) saying he was confirmed for October and could make travel plans. Yesterday (Wed) he received a voicemail from a different person on our home answering machine telling him the same thing. Never got a reply to the email confirming it - only the one above.

My son received his letter on Tuesday. Because of a cross country meet about 2 hours from home, he was not able to reply on Tuesday. He did reply to his region email address about 5am on Wednesday morning. That is when he was told that the sessions were full. He received that email about midmorning. So, he did go through the proper channels. The timing of the letter arriving was the problem.

Thanks osdad - DS attended a CVW last Spring, so I didn't want to seem greedy. Also, the email we received said "standby for invitation" for a future CVW I think. Isn't February too late if appointments are already made by then?

Most candidates won't have appointments by February. Also, the goal of a CVW is to help candidates decide if USNA is for them. Thus, candidates who have appointments or those who don't but may receive one would both benefit from a CVW. The only reason not to go is if you have definitely decided USNA isn't for you.

CVW are as much a recruiting tool as an assessment tool, probably more so. DD already had her appointment so the weekend was the NA's way to close the deal.

It did its job. Before the weekend DD said she would not decide to before letting it sink in for a few days. On the drive home, just over the Bay Bridge, she said "I'm going!" and signed the acceptance letter the next morning.
