Family Information?

I submitted all of my materials today and my portal updated with “family information” under the optional checklist. I already filled it out but was wondering if it meant anything? It asked for any family history with the military.
 
Same thing for me and others who reported on this forum. Seems to be nothing but just additional info.

Seems a new step in the appointment workflow. I had my DD show me, and it did not seem optional (despite some visual cues that appeared that way in the portal). I would not risk delaying application by not sharing some harmless demographic data.
