Favorite Candy Bar šŸ«

ReesePeeps:

Here you go. Two 1/2 lb. Reeseā€™s Cups, enough for you and your own self to not share.

I would think the ratio of PB:chocolate would be satisfactory.

And, have some fun going down a wiki rabbit hole to learn about H.B. Reese and his history with Hershey.

Greatest hits list:
Violet Crumble, can't beat that crunch!
Cadbury Fruit and Nut bar
See's self-selected 1 lb box, while attempting to snarfle as many free samples as possible, ending with me pointing through chocolate-glued mouth.
So crazy you said that. I just had a Violet Crumble todayā€”an Australian candy bar. A candy shop near Dickinson College has them (I go in for a Moxie soda when I pick my DD up for breaks).

Have you ever been to Hershey, PA, and seen every possible Reeseā€™s Cup variety in a special section in the factory store?
I was just in Hershey, PA this past week. Although I spent the majority of the time at Troeg's Brewery, right next to the park...

My wife interned at Hershey Medical Center years ago. Since she was broke back then, she would take the Chocolate World ride every single day after her shift just to get the free chocolate bar. They handed out the full-sized bars back in those days!

As far as my favorite... When my cousin lived in Danville, CA, she would always bring me some See's Candies dark chocolate buttercreams when visiting. Yum.

I refrained from mentioning Mrs. Seeā€™s, but now itā€™s been mentioned a few times:
Dark Bordeaux
Dark Maple Nut
Dark Raspberry Cream
Dark Lemon Truffle
A 2-lb build-a-box every year at Christmas. Just for us. The ā€œstocking.ā€ One of my favorite sponsor mid parents of all time, from San Clemente, completely understood, and sent us a 4 lb build-a-box every year.

Where the samples are generousā€¦sigh, miss them here on East Coast.

When I worked abroad as an expat, one half of the joint venture was a very well-known candy (and food) company. So every Christmas, each employee received a giant box ā€” weighing 2 kilos, or 4 pounds ā€” of mixed chocolates. DD and DS were wee ones back then. Talks about ā€œkids in a candy storeā€!

I once returned home after a long flight and unsuccessful meetings, feeling miserable and needing a pick-me-up. As I stepped out of the jetway, I spotted a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. I couldnā€™t resist the pull. I headed over, saw the prize, swallowed hard and bought it. It didnā€™t take me long to finish off that one-pound peanut butter cup. And afterward, I felt a different kind of miserable. šŸ˜¬šŸ˜²šŸ¤•

Back in the day, before they were deemed "unhealthy choices", my school lunch was a snickers and mountain dew.

Now, I can only go by which wrapper I would grab first in the Halloween loot. hmmm, I might grab one of several. snickers, butterfingers, reeses, baby ruth, kit kat, crunch, 100k, or whatchamacallit. Even bar none if they were still around. (basically something nutty or crunchy with a chocolate covering)

Its easier to list what is not. 3 musketeers or milky way, even once they are the last two in the caldron. Also, plain hersheys, kisses, etc are just boring though edible.

Agreed.

I am embarrassed to admit that my son had more plain hersheys before he was inducted than vegetables. He didnā€™t have the decency to get the ones with almonds.

The same kids who excitedly called me 2C year to tell me that they mistakenly put a cherry on his chocolate milkshake and he tried it for the first time and liked it.

Worst eater ever. Now he eats everything.

In the late 60's/early 70's there was a peanut butter and chocolate bar from Peter Paul that was named "No Jelly" and they were
magnetic to me but sadly, they are now available only in Candy Heaven.

Not a candy bar per se, but I like Kohler Chocolate anything. Yes, they are the same company that makes plumbing fixtures. :p

There are plenty of mentions of the chocolate-covered bacon at the Annapolis Amish Market in the bacon thread.

Chocolate and bacon can excel together, but must be carefully executed.

Here in the Candy Bar Thread, itā€™s been fairly well-focused on candy bars.

I did try a chocolate bar with bacon a few years back at Trader Joeā€™s. Flabby bacon. Would not make the cut here or in the Bacon Thread.
