Favorite Candy Bar šŸ«

As a kid one my favorite memories was when we went to the BX an mom said "yes" to getting a candy bar. A Whatchamacallit for me, a York patty for mom and (ugh) a 3 Musketeers for my older brother (He's still a weirdo). Wish the Whatchamacallit was still around. Today, any variety of Reese's is my go to.

But for something a bit off the beaten path, there's this:

Hershey kisses paired with a grocery store Merlot. This should be on the dessert menu of finer restaurants.

I forgot to mention this one, in either dark or milk chocolate. The chocolate is very smooth, and there is a satisfyingly huge number of nuts per square bar.

Some have mentioned red wine and/or bourbon with chocolate. I really don't like chocolate so I will have a glass of bourbon (neat) and a glass of red wine to wash it down and leave the chocolate for all of you...

One of my favorite dessert combos: Port and dark chocolate. Mmmā€¦.

Apparently, a good pairing for peanut butter is Cabernet. So the next time I have a Reeseā€™sā€¦hmmmā€¦

My older brother used to serve Reeseā€™s with brunello di montalcino whenever I visited.

Good stuff.

Just looked it up. Stuff ainā€™t cheap. But Iā€™m game to try! ā˜ŗļø Thanks for the tip.
No kidding. I never bought it. He used to buy it by the case for 2k.

Probably 13 years ago my brother introduced me to red wines with an expensive bottle. I swore it off when I drank half a gallon of cheap stuff in 1985 and got the worst headache.

He had a different price range than I did! I went with Kendall Jackson Cabernet Sauvignon. Loved it.

Now I only drink cheap stuff. Gallo Family Hearty Burgundy. Unbelievably good. 55 bucks a case. He drinks that now too.

@WT Door would probably join me in saying why not go for Sassicaia or Ornellaia if youā€™re in the mood. I could afford those when I was stationed there and liras were weak. Now, itā€™s a major splash. But fabulous with chocolate anything. Or - at the other end of the $ spectrum, Apothic Red, just fine with chocolate. Inexpensive doesnā€™t always mean cheap rotgut.

Lol Sassicaia is the expensive wine he got me hooked on - served with dark chocolate. Better than candy.

It is nectar of the gods good.
My brother just told me he was in Annapolis on a business trip (unrelated to Navy) in 2000. Saw a liquor store in Annapolis going out of business. Bought 1996 sassicaia - 36 bottles for 4k. Was so happy.
