Favorite chips

Can’t wait to try. We have a Capriotti’s nearby, but I don’t usually get chips I haven’t test-driven.
I love the Hot Bobbie sub at Capriotti's! Add in the chips... Yum! If you aren't pepper-averse, I believe you will really enjoy the chips.

I occasionally like the Tostitos lime chili chips, so I think the citrus acid will appeal with black pepper.

Mixed nuts >> Almonds first, then pecans, hazelnuts, walnuts, hand off peanuts to DH unles they are sweet and salty, ignore Brazil nuts completely. Macadamia nuts all by themselves.
LOL…I do same with Chex Mix and Mixed Nuts, even regarding the peanuts. Macadamia nuts are my favorite so absolutely best alone. Marcona Almonds I also eat by themselves. Now I do eat Brazil nuts for the selenium…

My go to road trip snack is HOT 🥵 FRIES! 😋

Menards (hardware store like Lowes) has a version of corn nuts which (dare I say it) are better than corn nuts and aren't as much like rocks that will make you think you're going to chip a tooth. They are good, but you have to be on a road trip that takes you by a Menards. That constrains your trip to passing through Minnesota, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania - I think.
Wisconsin is Menards home turf and they've expanded south almost to Texas and through the Dakotas and into Wyoming. Your trip just has to come through the midwest and you'll find a Menards.

My favorite chips? Crunchy Cheetos, Funyons, Maui Sweet Onion, and any authentic Mexican Food restaurant's warm and salty tortilla chip.

Husband loves pork rinds. He grows cayenne peppers by the thousands and makes a hot sauce from his dad's recipe. That hot sauce on pork rinds is awesome, even better on a tuna melt. And crushed pork rinds make a great breading for any meat. Sometimes I use them mixed with panko for schnitzel. I mean come on, pork on pork? YES!

Oh, crushed potato chips also make good breading. And those lovely fried onions (think green bean casserole) are great breading as well, especially on chicken.

If I’m going with salty things in a bag that are snack food but not usually called a chip, one of my desert island must-haves is white cheddar popcorn from a quality brand.

Or that addictive 3-flavor sweet, salty, cheesy popcorn blend from the airport kiosk in Chicago.

Poll: I admit to picking out the bits I like in Chex Mix and eating them in order. No mixed handfuls all at once. Chex first, nuts second, pretzels last. You?
Just eat the check mix as a handful, now trail mix, get me the chocolate first and who cares about the rest!

Recently on a southwest trip back from parent's weekend, I was eating the southwest mix. I will say I was trying to eat just my spouses little melba toast things, they are delicious. I wish I could buy those in the store by themselves. My son was dissecting the bag and giving me the "cheeze it" type thing he didn't like. I guess it didn't hold up to the standards of a real cheeze itz. It was driving me a little crazy that he didn't just throw the whole thing in his mouth. I suppose when you dissect it, you really taste the individual elements.

Homemade Chex mix and trail mix is the best. I can put in the most of whatever ingredient I like most too.

My current go-to homemade trail mix is as follows

Approx half peanuts (large "Virginia" peanuts from Costco are best)
Corn Nuts
Rice Crackers (thin, approx 1" long)
Reeses Pieces

I occasionally substitute out the Pieces with Choc or other baking chips.

My kids love these, but I can't get past the extreme saltines! I want to like them 🤣
I went searching for “Exteme Saltines,” thinking, ooh, must be a spicy saltine, brilliant, I’ll find some and try them with soup.

Then I realized you probably meant “saltiness.”

Now I really want someone to make Extreme Saltines.

Ghost Pepper Saltines. What a concept.

Thinking of crushing up some pork rinds this weekend and using them on chicken wings.
