To all this interest and support for Facebook and YouTube I'm going to probably sound like a fuddy duddy and old fart but here's some true things for everyone to consider relative to posting such information and possibly embarrasing information, etc.
Keep in mind I am a proponet of Facebook as a social networking tool, the USMMA Class of 1982 has over 70 of our graduating Class of 221 as mmebers and the Kings Point Club of DC - Alumni Chapter also is working towards 100 members.
However, relative to posting photos an tagging them and discussing sophmoric or worse antics on line on these forms all should keep this in mind. I can't speak for the current administration but the prior Maritime Administrator (a USMMA Class of 1983 grad) was known to browse and google through facebook and youtube videos and when he found agregious behavior that could be tied to specific behavior call the then Superintendant and direct the offending midshipmean recieve the appropriate mandated disciplinary action. Several Midshipman in past years were "stuck" for not shaving during sea year in this manner for instance.
As a person who has the occassion to hire new college graduates I too have been known to look at these types of forms for information when I've been on the fence relative to a hiring decision as well. Seeing the offhand picture of a 22 year old partying never turned me off, seeing 50+ pictures out of 500 of a different kid, clearly approaching what was probably "blackout drunk" though led me to opt for a different interested candidate.
Just a few thoughts to think about relative to privacy settings and what sort of information folks diusseminate to what is really a pretty much totally public form.
