FedEx and UPS don’t like to ship to the PO Box at USNA. Anyone know the best way/address to ship a non USPS package to USNA? Thanks!!!

Just so you have the info from USNA.edu as well, from Google search string “sending FEDEX to Naval Academy.”

FEDEX and UPS are currently slow. Make all possible efforts to avoid sending Fedex and UPS boxes to the USNA post office. Try a local fedex/ups locker (if liberty continues) or mail it to sponsors if they are ok with it.

USPS isn’t much better right now. Over the last few weeks DH’s Rx from the VA, a few things I’d ordered from 3 different vendors, all were delayed. All got to the Linthicum mail facility (near BWI) and just sat there. The “track packages” for his VA Rx showed his box sat in Linthicum for 9 days before it was “out for delivery.” Evidently there is a big backlog there, due to staff out for COVID and mail sorter machines removed. We still get a paper AT&T bill, just haven’t gotten around to going paperless on that one, even though we pay via E-Bill - it arrived two days before the monthly payment was due.

Linthicum is the bulk mail center for the area that distributes mail to local delivery centers.

Ok thank you! We have been sending things via Amazon but some of the items are not able to be delivered via USPS so just wondering if we could change it but probably best to stick with USPS.

Mildly interesting, is that the advertised “2 day” flat rate packages all families are familiar with, from sending over plebe summers, are not guaranteed 2 day. Only if you pay for priority (which always about 72$ from our area in the Midwest) are you guaranteed 2 day delivery.

I asked after my “2 day” package took several weeks. Same thing as mentioned...made it to MD and sat. Forever.

Our local P.O. worker said basically the same. Due to the new post master cutting hours, covid, derecho, etc, that stuff on the east coast is very backed up and slow.

The last box of stuff my plebe needed was sent via the same 2-day flat rate box. But this time, on the receipt, it showed a 5 day out arrival date. They aren’t even printing the 2 days anymore.

We are also doing a lot of ordering for an party here at home, and many, many things are delayed. Via all shipping methods. It’s just the way things are in 2020.

HIGHLY recommend shipping to a sponsor or local family at USNA. The workers on the yard are overwhelmed due to so much going in due to lockdown. If you don’t have one, post on one of the parent pages. Tons of parents have volunteered to help out.

It got a flat rate USPS box in roughly 5 days from the midwest. Two days delivery and 3ish days waiting to be sorted on the yard. By no fault of their own, the USNA postal workers are swamped. When it gets bad they bounce the Fedex/UPS deliveries and take USPS boxes.

It is still slow, but vastly faster than a couple weeks ago.

DS went to PO on the yard the other day for a package that arrived around the 23rd of August. They told him they have 1000s of boxes and are still sorting. Letters are an issue too! Sent three letters late August - he hasn't recieved a single one. Point of origin for these things - NYC. SMH what a mess. PO did tell him the USPS boxes take priority in sorting over fedex and UPS but I think that was just an excuse.....

I also experienced the Fedex bounce- Ordered something from a vendor and did not know they would ship Fedex - Tracking received said "Undeliverable" in the middle of the day but eventually it was delivered 2 days later. Now waiting for my MID to receive it.

I ordered some v8 juices via Walmart. I believe I ordered them last Thursday and he picked them up yesterday. And it was a case so likely shipped via ups. That's not too bad timing-wise, so maybe things are looking up. Next to his PO box I list his company so when they do have big sorting sessions with volunteers it may make it easier for them to sort.

Not a direct answer: we ship to our DS's Sponsor family. They drop the time off at the Yard. Sponsors are great!

A midshipmen I know well had his books shipped home instead of to USNA, which got delivered after he went back. So this parent I know well had to ship them to him without reimbursement. UPS two day.

Was supposed to be there last Friday. He still hasn’t gotten them.
