Is an interview with your FFR (field force representative) required for West Point's application/an appointment? I have contacted my FFR in December of 2019 and April of 2020 and they have not responded.

An interview is required, but these are unusual times - this application season may be different from those in prior years.

Follow instructions from admissions and contact your RC with any significant issues.

The full application normally does not open until August, so it is still very early in the process.

The application is open for USMA now at least for those that received summer seminar invitation.

The interview format has changed with this 2025 cycle. In my AO the RC and FF goal is to make sure every admissible to competitive candidate receives either a F2F (preferred) or telephone interview before the 3Q process is concluded and an offer is made. Idea as I understand it is to make sure the top drawer candidates get the interview at least before 31 Jan. Much sooner if the candidate looks to be very competitive for all the service academies and ROTC Scholarships. Many FF Reps will not do the formal interview until they see a "passed" CFA and a majority of a file complete. Many also just wait until the nominations come out until they reach out to their candidates. Reach out to your FF Rep...

Thank you for all of your replies. My FFR and I are in communication and everything is going smoothly now.

My field force rep just gave me an interview two days ago, my file was opened early June, and I have not taken the CFA yet. Could this be because I am a very competitive candidate, or because I am a re-applicant. I am just curious lol.

There are too many variables to make the determination why you would get a request for an interview. Do not read anything in to having an interview now or not hearing from you FFR till October or November. 99% of offers do not happen until next year. Just because you are a "very competitive" candidate in July does not necessarily mean you will be the same "very competitive" candidate in February especially if you are a re-applicant.

Is it only open now (mi-July) for those who received SLE invites?
No the application (second step kit) is open for all 2025 prospective candidates and has been since the first week of June due to Covid changing the timeline for admissions this year. I was still waiting to hear back from SLE when it was cancelled and my SSK has been open since early June.

Second Step kits are not automatically opened for all applicants. Admissions has started the process early and is releasing second step kits without test scores this year but each applicant is going through an evaluation before this happens. Traditionally test scores were almost always needed before the SSK opened but this year admissions is opening more without them due to issues with test dates getting cancelled.
