Final Exams Schedule

The academic calendar we have shows finals Dec. 18th through 20th. Your cadet will be able to tell you which days he/she will have finals. Winter break officially starts on the 21st.
 
What time is the last possible final on the Friday of finals week for fourth class?
 
That depends on the cadets schedule. Some test are given at 10:30 at night yes that is P.M.
 
For those planing on taking the aeronautical engineering major and are fourth class, what is the latest possible final for the first semester? I need to leave for a flight that is at six pm.

What you will learn very soon is that the only constant at USAFA is change. The finals schedule does not come out until maybe mid semester. These can then be changed depending on the class. Best recommendation is to get a refundable ticket, Southwest works well. In fact, when I had to change the reservation, I got some money back because the flight was cheaper.
 
Okay, that is good to know. What was the last possible final time last year, though?
 
you will have plenty of time to get airline tickets home from Dec Finals in the fall. And, while you may want your child to come home immediately after finals are done, sometimes they want to go ski or snowboard if their finals finish early.

please accept the fact now that you will not be able to plan for plane tickets months and months in advance. No change fee tickets would be great, but that's not always possible either.

We would usually tell DS to find the ticket that works for him and then we'd pay for it. He knew when he could leave, how long he needed to get to the airport, when he had to be back (or wanted to be back) - and even that can change, after you make the reservations, should they get a leadership job that required them to be back early on the day of return.
 
There is no way to know which finals will be offered during which periods, or what time the final periods will be, until the schedule is released. Once the schedule IS released, cadets can move their finals around (within the specific periods each is offered) to fit their needs, ie. want to leave USAFA as soon as possible, only want 1 final per day to increase study time, etc.

Additionally, the number of finals a cadet will have varies based on the classes they are in: some cadets may have 2, others may have 6. Cadets can also validate certain finals, but won't know if they did until a few days before finals begin. Cadets may only take 2 finals/day.

Therefore, a cadet may need 1 day to complete his or her finals...or they may need 5 days. There is absolutely no way to know at this point.
