I was reading through last years “permit to report” and noticed this section that says “final transcripts are not required, only upon request”

My DS has finished the year strong, so not a problem to send it in or not, but just curious. Do most people not send in their final high school transcripts? How do they know you graduated? Just curious.

To be honest, with the quality of students USNA accepts, I would guess they simply presume you graduated. IF High School graduation isn't a prequisite for earning a college degree or commissioning, they really don't care.

(That being said, don't skate the rest of the year or get in trouble...USNA will find out)

I wouldn’t send it unless explicitly asked. I presume most people are not requested to send it

My son was NAPS 2024 and is now USNA 2028, they never asked for any grades from 12th grade - he received his NAPS appointment in January 2023.

My other son has received a fully qualified offer of appointment in Jan 2026 after receiving a medical waiver from USNA, and is now USNA 2030. They have not asked for any grades from 12th grade.

Since we've been through this process already, we have already started with the Permit to Report from USNA 2029 to help with the forms for 2030, which won't be released for probably another month. But we already have the immunizations updated and completed, got the newborn screening and sickle cell results (they never asked about this at I-day in 2024, but we got this anyway). The forms won't change very much if at all. The checklist gives you a good idea on what's required
