I have worked on my rotc application for months now and I am about ready to submit. Any final thoughts or opinions would help:

-Marine Option
-1460 Sat, 32 Act
-4.0 weighted GPA
-16% of class
-Boys state 2018
-12 pull-ups, 85 sit-ups, 24:15 3 mile run
PFT scores could be better so I joined the xc team senior year and am improving
-XC team senior year
-Two Year’s of life guarding at Lifetime Fitness and recently started working as a supervisor
-Teach swim lessons
-Apart of PALs (peer assisted learning) where I travel to the elementary school everyday and work with younger kids on homework and such
-Marathon finisher
-I take basically all Duel or AP classes offered
-Pursuing a mechanical engineering major
-Top 5 schools: UC Boulder, Auburn, Georgia Tech, UT Austin, and San Diego’s State
-Have interviewed with several retired marine corps pilots who gave me strong letters of recommendation

I didn’t know if I could retake my pft later this summer and update the scores?

All feedback welcomed

Have you already done the PFT or are those practice scores? My son did the PFT on the same day as his officer interview after he submitted his application is the only reason I’m asking. Anyway, I believe you can take it again and I would suggest doing so if you are going Marine Option. Try to get as close to a perfect score as you can — it is that important to them.

Get a pull-up bar and get to the max (unless yo're a girl in which case you're awesome!). You have plenty of time. Keep working on that run time. Try adding sprint intervals if you aren't already doing them. The PFT isn't the be all, end all... but it is far more important to the Corps than any other service.

Good luck on your application. Nothing better than being a Marine officer (or so my kid tells me).

I'd think your PT scores and lack of a team sport ( XC, Track, Swimming, Wrestling and such seem to be treated as tier 2 sports ) will be your biggest negatives.

Good luck
