Finally Got the E-mail
I'm pretty sure I checked the portal this morning around 0800 and it said CPR, but I got the email around lunch and I went back to check the portal and it said "Turned Down by USNA." I'm pretty sure the portal change is what auto-generates the email.
"Turned Down by USNA"...no easy way.....:(

At least there was an opportunity to compete, good luck in plan B and C!

My DS also got the TWE today. Although still waiting on USAFA, backup plans in place!

So proud of these kids, receiving nominations and perseverance.

Good Luck to all, still CPR and to all that received TWE.
I'm so sorry to hear... Best of luck with USAFA or whatever his Plan B turns into! :)

Were most of these for people that were medically DQ'ed and/or w/o noms?
My DD had no medical concerns and two noms. Not the right fit at this point is all we can figure.
My DD too - two noms and full dodmerb clearance.
It's hard to understand why things happen the way they do sometimes - we need to believe it's for a reason, eh? Sometimes I think it'd be easier if there was an obvious reason for the TWE. Hoping your DDs plan B is awesome and where she finds happiness!!

When my DS found out he received the 4 year ROTC scholarship he knew he had options outside USNA. When he found out he got into Notre Dame, the scholarship and ND were Plan A all along.....for him he knew he was leaning toward being a normal college kid and balancing the requirements of ROTC. Yesterday's TWE is a lot less painful. He still has alot of good things ahead of him.

My DS got the TWE last night. We cried a lot. Not sure which college it will be yet, accepted at Penn State and RIT, waiting on Princeton, and we have not heard from NROTC (is that bad?). Good luck to all who are still CPR. Maybe class of 2022?

DD is also waiting for Princeton and a few others. TWE is tough to see after all the work they put into it but there is always next year if she wants to try again. Good luck.

Thanks, good luck to yours too.

roguemom35 and madzmom21- tell your kids to hang in there. I have posted a few times my DD's story -not sure if you have seen it but I will provide the cliff note. She is a 2016 high school graduate. Top 1% of her class, straight A's, 11 AP's,4 year varsity soccar, captain of soccer team for two years, track, theater, high SAT/ACT and the list goes on. She did not apply to SA last year but did apply to top school. By January she was either denied or wait-listed from Georgetown, UVA, Tulane, Notre Dame, and American University. She put together plan B and applied to more schools and hated that she "had to start the whole application process all over again". By late March she had three good choices but none were where "she wanted to go". She started the fall at The George Washington University. She excelled in classes and got to know her professors. Her best friend was at USMA and she attended Army/Navy in early December. After the game she was waiting for the train to take her back to school. She called me and said, "I made a mistake last year, I am going to apply to USNA, USCGA and USAFA." Tons of things happened along the way but in the end she was accepted to all three.
I truly believe she had to go through all the rejection last year to get to where she is today. She is more mature and now ready to head off to USNA. Things do happen for a reason. I am convinced if she had applied to the SA her senior year she would have not been appointed. Let your kids be sad for a day-pick their next step and the reevaluate next year.
Best of luck to all of you.

Thanks for the encouragement nolamomma! I am giving DS a day or two to be disappointed, then on to Plan B, and I will definitely be pitching the "second time does it" stories I have been reading on this forum. My son's stats are just like your daughter's, and I believe he will want USNA bad enought to try again. Congrats to your DD!

My DD got the TWE from USNA on Friday, she's already committed to Princeton and eagerly waiting to hear about NROTC scholarship. She will join NROTC regardless of scholarship. Beaming with pride regarding her determination.

Know that the portal change seems "brutal." It was implemented in the last year or two as a way to get info more quickly to the candidate. This both solves the problem of the BGO knowing first and being in a difficult situation and lets the candidate know as soon as possible in order to start making other plans.

The email is generic. It's really not possible to send individual letters to each person. In many cases, the candidate didn't have any major weaknesses -- just a numbers game. The schools to which folks above have been accepted speaks to their excellence.

Has your DD already heard from Princeton, etc27? Good for her! Does that mean my son is in the Princeton equivalent of CPR? Groan.

Yes, she applied SCEA to Princeton so found out in December, making sure plan B was in place ;)

Is there any chance of still getting accepted if I'm still CPR? Seems like everything that I'm seeing is TWE at this point.

Yes you still do have a chance at getting an appointment at this point. Just remember that there are still many other applicants that are still CPR , so it could be anyone's game. As others have said get your plan B ready. Good luck!

Our Plan B is a no go, declined by Univ of FL/Gators; confirmed with admission no hope on reconsideration and can only transfer there after 60 credits :( We accepted Plan C today just in case Plan A USAFA is a no go.

My DS has friends who were accepted to Ivy's and rejected to UF. Nobody knows the process but they have missed out on some amazing kids. We live in FL. UF is ridiculous and has way too many applicants...just my opinion! Plan C is looking good over here as well! Good luck!
