Finally met 2 legends from SAF

We opted to drive there and back home Saturday. It's about a 3 hour drive each way. Of course my son had duty at that game and needed to roam the parking lot for a few hours afterwards. Then he guilted us into taking him and a few friends out for dinner. Long story short... We left the house at 7:30 AM and rolled back into my driveway around 2:30 AM. At that moment I realized I ain't in my 20s anymore. Lots of coffee consumption and resulting bathroom breaks. It was a LONG day.

Wow! Definite trifecta! Pretzel bun stuffed, sticky bun with nuts, chocolate covered bacon.

Too funny you thought the Amish Market was the City Dock Market.

The City Dock Market has a long and sad history. There has been a market at that location since the town was born to service water traffic among local plantations and the fishing trade in that part of the colony. It was also the market where the enslaved Kunta Kinte, of Alex Haley’s “Roots” book and mini-series, was sold. That’s why there is that statue of Alex Haley right on the water there, telling the story to listening children.

Whoa that gave me a cover in goosebumps.

I feel honored to spend time there. Wow.

There is actually a group of plaques that show a timeline, a compass rose to show where people came from and other items in a coordinated memorial. Worth pausing, absorbing and reflecting next time you are there.

There were soooo many people there. All that was covered in people.

We had a blast. But also LOVE coming when it’s not a BIG weekend. Recommend everyone do that.

I didn't get to meet her MIDN and she didn't get to meet mine. They were too busy doing some silly marching thing, a parade in front of the Secretary of the Navy (which was pretty cool, my first parade at USNA).
Of course just kidding about importance of said parade

DW and I decided to take a last minute trip and spend some quality time with our plebe. She had a craving for some Mexican food , so took care of that.

Visited the Amish market and saw a massive line on the side of the market. Was curious and asked what is it for ? The answer came “Pretzel hot dogs”.

DW must have spent some good cash on buying things for home and as special gift for some close friends. Will be back again for SMU game in October.

Make sure you have your SABF sharpie tattoo on wrist or the bacon pin . We shall also be on the Yard for the SMU game. We will be easy to pick out as we will be wandering aimlessly around the tailgaters looking like the firs timers we shall be.

Additional Breakout Topic Suggestions:
  • A Parents Only Session to Answer Questions your Child Has, by DODMERB Expert Larry Mullen
    • After everyone is seated, trap-doors under seats are triggered, like in the Willy Wonka Bad-Egg Scene,, and those parents tumble via laundry / trash chutes down to the parking lot.
  • Harmony with Nature, and the Joy of Inner Peace, A Panel Discussion with SAF banned members.
  • “Only once or twice” – The Innovative and Magical Way to Minimize Drug Experimentation that's NEVER been tried before. *Sponsored by Doritos, everyone arrested for drunk driving or underage drinking, and every predator Dateline's Chris Hanson catches who says "This is my first time doing this" (nearly all of them).
  • A Special Session for Those Who Want to Go into the Marines but aren't Fitness Oriented - held in the same room with the trap doors as noted above.
  • Reality Check Booth: Where a Seasoned Panel of SAF experts actually tells people with no leadership, no athletic participation but 1 sport their freshman year, no community service, poor interview skills, but arrogance, a 4.0 and High SAT scores why they or their precious child didn't get in to their dream SA or receive a ROTC scholarship, even though they got into _____ (Yale, Stanford, etc.)
  • It aint' always Plan B - A Support Group for participants and the families of those who prefer ROTC to a SA Held in a 6 person conference room (I know it's not as bad as my perception on this - just having a little fun).

Waiting in the Naval Bagel parking lot for the parade. Can one watch the parade from here before they go into the stadium?
