My son will be attending VMI in the fall and I have begun to stockpile the things he'll need. After several unsuccessful attempts to locate twin XL white flat sheets, I found www.linensupplier.com. They have the sheets (as well as many other things on the list) and the prices were very reasonable. The sheets are sold by the dozen, but if you call them, they'll let you buy a smaller quantity. They also donate a portion of your purchase to the VMI Parent's Council. Just thought I'd pass this along in case someone else is having the same trouble I did!

I used the same company last year.. The only issue my DS had was the blanket they send in the package created some lint issues.. He ended up having to lint roll his pillow and anything that touched the blanket every day so we replaced it , but everything else was very nice.

This certainly could have come in handy for me and my dad before I matriculated!! We did it the hard way and had to visit Target multiple times to grab the required number of sheets (what, six sets is it?).

"Blood and Guts Golf"?? They got a new nickname as I thought I heard from someone else that they were "Beer,Grits and Golf" company? Maybe it is just those non- button shining slackers in F Troop casting aspersions:wink:

My advice to the OP would be to take advantage of this- I think that my wife found before my son's rat year that the XL sheets were easy to find , but only in Sets with fitted sheets which he couldn't use , so you wound up with 6 unused XL fitted sheets - something that is really pretty useless other than cutup as rags at home. So avoid the waste and go with the vendor that PJK and BJKuds have suggested (and help the parents council out a little as well!)

Uh oh, did you not have to shine your shoulder brass? UNACCEPTABLE! I simply kid you though..my F-Troop BRs are a great group of guys. It's a company that, IMO, maintains Brother Rat spirit well after Breakout. Witnessing their antics during the Ratline, I'd say they bond well through their collective insanity.

And as for the whole sheets issue...I believe the New Cadet Handbook calls for six sets of sheets, but looking back, I only really used 2 or 3. One to cover the hay, one with which to change it out while the first is in the laundry, and one spare. The rest of them just took up space. But it's really a judgment call, as stuff inevitably gets lost in the shuffle, the details of which I shall not divulge...I don't want to ruin the surprise.

It's been "Blood and Guts Golf" at least since the 1990's (probably earlier).

I was in Golf Co. as a First as I was offered rank there. My original company was "Cold Steel Charlie." I was also a Reg. NCO as a Second, so there was some toolbag in me!!:shake: It obviously didn't stick, as I was a Platoon Lt. the following year (aka a "private with stripes").

Good memories....

Also...the thing of which I am most proud: I held the illustrious position of 9th Corporal as a Third. I was clearly destined for greatness in the cadet leadership positions...:yllol:

wait till Target and Khols has their back to school sales. Then they will have a ton of options that is cheeper then the catalong ones.

IKEA sells single flat white sheets, XL, for about $4 per sheet. They are not sets; they just sell the individual flat sheets. My son took 6 of them to The Citadel, but once they make their beds they sleep on top for the rest of the year, so they just use their extra sheets to make banners for special occasions to hang off of the battalion divisions. It's a little easier to watch them get made into banners when you paid $4 for them!
