Hi everyone! So I haven't completed my application 100% yet; I have to work on my essay. However USAFA was my 3rd choice on my application to my congressman. While I did receive a nomination, it wasn't for USAFA. For the other sources of nomination, I did not apply for USAFA, rather USMA and USNA.
Conclusion: I did not get a nomination to USAFA, so is it worth it to finish my application?

Up to you, but my son stopped doing his WP application for the same reason. He was pretty much told by our congressman that they wouldn't give nominations to more than 2 academies, and since he had the LOA to his top two choices, and figured he wouldn't get the nom, he just never finished it.

I think from another thread you have an LOA, don't you? If so, and you know you have the nom and where you're planning on going, then I probably wouldn't worry about it. Just my opinion of course!

Okay, just checked back and it was a principal nom instead, which probably ends up around the same. If you want to play it safe, continue working on it until you have your appointment to USMA in hand, but it sounds pretty "sure" to me! Good luck!

It never hurts to have options. Initially, USAFA wasn't my son's first choice either and he only received a nomination to USNA.....However, he didn't get in to USNA. He did receive a Falcon Foundation scholarship to USAFA. He is currently attending prep school with plans to join the class of 2014 at USAFA. My point, if you have an interest in USAFA it may be worth your time.

Not to mention the fact that if you're HIGHLY competitive they may find you a nomination anyway (VP, Superintendent, etc.) My two cents is that it won't take anything but your time, which you'll probably have alot of over the holidays, so why not finish it?
