See title. Heard this from my BGO area coordinator. Not much else to say, other than to ask if this is normal.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Welcome to the wonderful world of service academy admissions.

Hang in there, the vast majority of candidates don't get their answer until February, March, or even April.

Completely normal. Could be reviewed any day on up until late March/early April. Hang in there. Even if the board has reviewed doesn’t mean you will know an answer. USNA commits to informing candidates by April 15th. Good luck!

I have a candidate who's been complete for more than three months without Board review. Others have been reviewed pretty quickly. This happens every year and I can't explain it. I know it's frustrating, but it's also one of the downsides of the age of information. In my day before portals and computers (yes, such days actually existed:eek:), we had no idea where our application stood until we got the BFE or TWE. So, with increased knowledge and information comes increased frustration over the process. Unfortunately, it is what it is. Stay strong!

But even if application is Complete Pending Review, it may have been reviewed already, correct? There's just no way to tell.

^ This , way to much information out there, and creates unnecessary angst. Let the process work .....

For those that are anxiously watching people put their name on the Appointment thread....realize that's less than 3% of the class at this point.

Old Navy, as one with angst, I thank you for that reality check. Also find it interesting that a lot of those with appointments are marked as "undecided" - must be nice (kidding...)

Not altogether surprising. Everyone may tell their BGO, friends and family that USNA is their "first choice," but we all know that's not always true. Some candidates are trying to decide among SAs. I've also had more than a few candidates over the years turn down USNA for a full ROTC scholarship (often to an Ivy). And some may just want to reflect on things a bit before making such a big commitment.

When I was applying, I was certain I would go to USCGA if accepted -- 100% sure and even told them that. USNA was just a backup. But circumstances changed. I visited USCGA on a CVW and, for me personally coming from a very small h.s., the school was too small (especially having only 30 women in the class, which was the case at that time). President Reagan had just been elected and USCGA, which at the time was under the DoT, was undergoing severe and public budget cuts, while the other SAs (which were and are under the DoD) were getting more money. So, I changed my mind and went to USNA. While I never regretted my decision, I do sometimes wonder how things would have turned out had I gone to USCGA.

Bottom line: it's a big decision for a 17-yr-old and I have no issue with folks taking all of the allotted time to make their decision.

Yeah, got it... guess that's also why spots can open up as late as May or June - it ain't over till it's over. I also have to say that the insight and experience of you folks that have been around for awhile is invaluable and much appreciated! I know you've heard all these questions and concerns before...

My DS completed his application the first of Oct. and his portal still reads "complete pending review." I'm so glad to have this forum to know that it's completely normal!

DS CPR since July 20th. Presidential NOM on July 24th and MOC NOM on Dec 7th. Also already got appointment to USMMA - and yet nothing changed in USNA Portal. After 24 years of my own personal "hurry up and wait" stories - I will admit that as a Dad - this one is harder than any previous experience - including waiting for aircraft for weeks during MOB periods.... It sucks when it's your kid. Take lots of deep breaths, add a glass of wine here and there, and pray!

CPR will show until there is disposition on the overall process....an LOA, appointment, NAPS/Foundation offer, or turndown. It will not change when reviewed by the Admissions Board.

finished mine first of nov. but haven't heard back. just crossing fingers now
