Are USAFA cadets still trained on M9? Or has the M9 been replaced by new Sig Sauer P320-M18?

The M-18 hasn't replaced the M9's in the armory yet, but unfortunately in basic we only used M4's. Very sad.

Thanks. I was contemplating purchasing the M18 for DD to prepare knowing that its gonna be the USAF weapon at some point, but perhaps I'll wait and continue training with M9. Bummer; really wanted to get ahead and purchase that M18 without getting in trouble with wife :)

I'm confident that the fundamental training will actually not vary by weapon. Anything else can be quickly picked up when the new weapon is available. Gun safety, how to squeeze a trigger, and marksmanship doesn't really vary by weapon.

Never let a good justification to add to your collection go to waste. If it were me, my local FFL dealer would have a P320 headed their way.

Speaking as a certified instructor from the oldest organization in the world to teach marksmanship and gun safety, the fundamentals are most important and are readily transferrable to different makes/models/calibers.

I believe CO2024 was more looking for outside justification to add another firearm to his collection.
Future dilemma may occur trying to decide on class pistol(s) justifications.....oh and the custom engraved AR. It’s endless!
