First Board Results

I just contacted a PMS friend of mind concerning the original post regarding in person presentations. It seems it may be a hoax. He has not been directed to deliver any notifications to any winners. He does have winners at his local high school. The system still remains: scholarship winners will receive a letter (snail mail) notifying them of award. The applicants status change may or may not change prior to receiving the letter. That letter will be posted in CSIMS (system used by cadet command and ROTC). Once that is done colleges can then contact the winners directly. The winners should receive their letters any day now. Colleges do have visibility on who will receive offers from first board.

You guys are going to love this one. We got word today that you will be notified that you got a scholarship offer in person by the closest ROTC Battalion. We have until 4 December to go to all the scholarship winners house present the big check in their living room. Until that is done the letter will not go out and the status won't change. Would love to hear what applicants think about how this is being done.

If you were boarded this round you may want to contact the ROO at your school of choice and ask. In my case I will probably let the non winners know at this point to stop stressing and stand by for the second round.

From reading the other threads, it looks like some schools aren't following directions and maybe the SMCs are doing things differently, but for the folks that are following orders Cadre are putting on their dress uniforms and heading out with Big checks. Be prepared to receive a call from the ROOs to coordinate a time to have us come to the house.

First off, it's CCIMM...Which school is your PMS friend at?? Might want to ask him if he has seen OPORD 15-11-014 which directs us to notify in person before the letters are printed and mailed, and the status is changed in CCIMM. Here's what the mission statement says...

MISSION: Host Programs conduct in-person National Scholarship winner

notifications in order to increase program awareness and increase overall acceptance

rate NLT 041630DEC15.

There may be Brigades out there that have asked not to execute, but 2nd Brigade may be coming to see you soon if you live in the Northeast.

What about applicants who live overseas? Like my friend and I both attend DODDS schools in Europe.. I wouldn't expect them to travel over here to notify us in person.

Probably wait for portal update, email or possible phone call. Looks like it's a mixed bag right now. If you are a winner I am sure you will find out, might not be today or tomorrow, but soon. Keep an eye on the thread and I am sure you will start to hear of folks getting their letters and portals updating. Obviously being overseas, you are used to mail taking longer.

Is this for NROTC as well? I may be screaming in the streets in my PJs if they surprise us at home! LOL

I got 3 for Army ROTC, this is an Army ROTC Scholarship thread. Found via email from a PMS from one of my top schools

Found out I have received a 4 year scholarship to my number 1,2 and 3 schools!
How did you get 3? I thought they chose one for you of the 5 you chose for NROTC. Are you NROTC?

For AROTC they offer scholarship winners the choice of 3 schools from their list usually on the 1st board. They winner then chooses which of the 3 schools he wants to use the scholarship at. During later boards, the scholarship may not get offered 3 schools, but maybe 2 or only 1. NROTC only offers the scholarship to one school.

That would be 4 December 2015. 1630 hours...4:30 PM

Has anyone been notified from Norwich yet?
My son was there this week for a visit program He came home today and did not even know about this program. It is weird that they told him based on his scores he should be getting an offer but not tell him yes you are on the list. Norwich is his second school choice. His number one school also has been very high expectation he will get an offer but they have not sent an email either to let him know he got it so will contact them on Monday. The closest ROO to us refused to even return phone calls requesting to make a interview to complete his packet. He had to fly to his number one school (in another state) to get an interview obviously it was very likely a good thing that he was not doing an interview with a rep that is not high on his list (actually not one of his choices) We actually went to that closest school (3 hours away) and the person that was there in the ROTC office told my son he would be better off going to a military junior college over FIU and not even waste the College Board application waiver on FIU if his goal is a true military career.

Welcome to SAF, KeyzCat.

You didn't ask for advice, but here's some anyway. Do not call the school to ask if your son will be getting a scholarship offer. Offers to high school students come from Cadet Command, not the individual schools.

I'm still trying to figure out what the first sentence means.

I can't imagine how difficult it is folks have to wait for an in person visit to be awarded their offer. It sounds welcoming and it's certainly a nice gesture, but it must be a logistical nightmare for folks in the Battallions to get the time from their several other duties.

In my opinion, as stressful as the entire process was-it was handled with ease for both applicant and Battallion folks last year. My son was a 4-year winner on the second board last year.

AROTC has been the best experience for my son. The support within the Battallion and the friendships that have already been made is a huge credit to the Army. They were very welcoming despite him only reading his results online.

Best wishes to everyone.

Someone asked if anyone that had Norwich had heard about decisions. There was a event at Norwich Friday and Saturday. No one there was told they were awarded.

I do appreciate your input. The OP suggested calling the first choice school. They do understand from the difficulty we had with the closest ROTC battalion why we would be concerned about finding out about a notification which should come from them based on this new procedure. But we will just have to wait to see if someone contacts him. Hopefully if he was not selected this round they would at least contact him as OP stated his school planned. He did have a bump on his Math SAT score on the October test so have ordered that sent to Cadet Command.

My son has asked his top schools about the school level ROTC scholarships and except the FASFA which is done in January he was able to provide all the things the schools require as part of their school level award application.
Hopefully that also helps explain my 2 am insomnia ramble.

My friend got an email from University of Miami telling him that he was awarded a 4 year. Miami isnmt even a top 3 choice for him so I'm sure his other schools are waiting until Cadet Command releases the official notifications. I'm still waiting/hoping to hear from my schools.
Miami, Fl or Miami, Ohio? I ask since UM Florida cadets do their AROTC at FIU. FIU is #7 for my son but he hasn't applied as it really is last choice. I just have a hard time seeing them wanting to come 130 miles each way to award a check to someone wanting to go somewhere else. As someone else said these presentations are taking time away that cadets trying to get through first semester away at collage and those preparing to start their last semester of college. And the great need to do well on the OML . Why not recruiters who are already doing home visits and helping recruits get scheduled for their medicals and any testing.
Is anyone else unable to connect to the Army Scholarship page since post about decisions being made?
The bad part in doing home visits is the battalions that will not follow the requirements. Notification are already being posted with minimal info . This small trickles of people being notified is adding to frustrations on the increased time for notification. Students only have 30 days to agree to accept the scholarship and determine which school to go with. No one has addressed if the 30 days is from when awarded or when notified of the award? Does anyone know if delays in notifications is coming out of the 30 days to choose if accepting and school of choice?
