First Board Results

DS AROTC portal changed to Boarded too.

Has anyone seen NROTC portal updates to Board Ready. This is the messaging DS has reflected for the past 3-4 wks:
Your application is at Naval Education and Training Command for final processing and selection determination. Selection decisions will begin in late August and continue until the end of April. Once a selection decision has been made, your new status will be reflected.

At some point does the "status" page start to follow this format?
At Recruiter level for Processing:
Application is not finished processing and may be missing some information
At NSTC level for Processing:
Application received by Naval Service Training Command and is being prepared for Board Review. Application is not finished processing and may be missing some information
Board Ready:
Application is complete and ready to go before a Selection Board
No Decision has been made:
Application is being or has been reviewed by a Selection Board

My portal used to say what your son’s currently says. The NROTC portal was updated for me about 3-4 weeks ago with the following language:

The NSTC Selection/Placement Office has received your application.
Missing Items
  • All required items have been processed.

Selection Status
No decision has been made on your application.

Each year may change, but when our son was awarded NROTC 1st board 4 year (2019) he found out the last few days of October. Hang in there people, regardless of the outcome this is just the beginning of waiting for all kinds of things. Roller coaster seat belts should be securely fashioned.
Good luck to all!!!

Good luck to everyone! We went through this with our DD. This will be an exciting experience for everyone. We had the joy of going through this with NROTC, AFROTC, and AROTC.

Good luck everyone! I was awarded a four year national on the 3rd board last year, which was the only board I applied to. There’s always still hope if you don’t get it this time around. I hear they also upgrade some 3 years to 4 years at the 3rd board if they have space. The first board is always the most competitive!

What does your DS's last name start with? Wondering how far down the list they have gotten.
Every year there is speculation as to how files are presented to the AROTC Board. completion date, alphabetical, test scores, interview date, interview score, CBEF survey results... None have been validated. No reason to believe the review is by alphabetic order.

Oh ok that makes sense! My name starts with a C and my status showed boarded on the first day so I assumed it was alphabetical. Thanks!

My DS was boarded on Day 2. His app was completed on 10/3. The last name begins with H. Hoping this is a positive trend.

I believe it was the Friday after the week of the first board, which would be the equivalent of 10/29 this year. DS got a 4-year in the second board rather than the first board. In the last couple of years, having your schools of intent "lock" has been predictive of receiving an offer within a few days.

Thank you! Waiting is the worst!

DS went through the process last year and is a MS1 now. I will say this is probably one of the more enjoyable parts. Its kinda of like watching the football game and you don't know the final outcome. You are so nervous cause you care so much. You have seen DS/DD give it their all.

Improve certain areas if you aren't selected the first board. As I mentioned before DS went to the 3rd as where most of the scholarships will be given. Waiting between the 2nd and 3rd board seemed like forever.

After they win their is still so much to do before their first day on campus. Enjoy this piece a little and enjoy the wait with some of the best people this country has to offer.

best of luck to everyone; I submitted my application early and kept getting pushed back until the last board, months later... found out only in the end of april. (I chalk it up to my subpar grades and tier 3 major...)

Best of luck with the waiting game; the most important thing to remember UNLESS IT IS A NO, THEN YOU'RE STILL IN THE RUNNING!!
