First Round of Offers

Is there any way to get a heads up about this? Would your Congressman reach out and contact you if an appointment was headed your way or would it be better for me to call their office, or is there an altogether different approach that would allow me to check my status?
I just received a phone call. I've had this nomination since December 7, 2014. Again, this is just the first round of many. Don't worry about it.

The way it works is that once WP makes you an offer of appointment, the MOC is notified. They have 72 hours to call and congratulate you. Not all will. After that 72 hours has passed, the FFR can call you and it will appear on your portal. During that 72 hour period, WP will be putting your BFE in the mail.
Typically, the Admissions Committee meets on Tuesdays.

Out of curiosity, what're the statistics regarding the first round of appointments/BFEs compared to the number of cadets admitted at-large? I'm anxiously awaiting any communication.

My DS received a principal nomination and is 3Q'd. His 7th semester grades have been sent (2 weeks ago) but not received based on his portal. Would someone in his situation be included in this first round of notifications or in a later round once his grades have been received?

Dang we are slow here in MD. School started in late in August (and they want to push it till later), so 7th semester not available for a while yet (in February). If the kid does go SA, there would be almost no break between end of HS and start of SA which is a bummer.

Wow, it will be rush rush for you. Seniors will be done May 4th in MO.

?? Did they get the 7th ready faster than expected ?? Did your school mail or send them electronic?

Nothing is fast in this process...

His semester ended 1/6/15 and they were mailed on the 13th.

Thank you. From what others have posted the turn around seems to be 3 weeks for mailed items (matching what the portal time frame is for mailed items).

My DS's portal now has the heading.... name, Class of 2019. I can't remember if it used to say "candidate". Is this a change, or am I just not remembering that it always had his name and "class of 2019" like all candidates might have had? I'm hoping this is the good news my DS has been waiting for.

Same here, just dont know if it always read that way. 7th semester grades posted today as well.

Mine reads (on the profile page) "Name Class of 2019". The 2020 applications are open so they probably added that (if it was added) to avoid confusion. Or maybe your seeing "Class of 2019" somewhere else...

The WP Admissions FB page posted pictures of the first round of BFEs going out in today's mail. Just under 500 appointments. Good luck to all candidates!

500 candidates out of the 1400 that will be offered an appointment, a little more than a third of them can out this time. I'm so, so nervous.

How does it show up on your portal? Does the letter appear?

On your portal, under the box that lists your nomination(s), will be a box that says, "Offered Appointment". Under that, there will be a link to accept or decline. It will not appear on your portal until 72 hours after your MOC has been notified.

So if the committee met on Tuesday at some point either Friday or Saturday our portals would be eligible to be updated?

Is this mostly people who have LOAs and LOEs or will some who are 3Qd going to get some appointments?
Some who are 3Q'd with a nom will be getting appointments IF they are the clear slot winner on their MOC's slate.
LOA recipients just need a nom (if they have met all the requirements of their LOA) to receive an appointment. LOE's still have to be 3Q'd with a nom and be the clear slot winner. It is possible that someone with a LOE may not be the slot winner on their MOCs slate. Someone else on the slate may have a higher WCS or a P-Nom. LOEs are an admissions tool to let a candidate know that WP is interested in them and to allow for an overnight visit. It is not a guarantee of an appointment.

Friday at the earliest. FFRs are not suppose to congratulate the appointee until Monday.
