Flu Phone call today!

Something I've observed. My son will be a 2nd Class Mid this year. He has always been very healthy....

Plebe year he had muscle cramps in his back so bad that it caused his spine to get all twisted.....then at the end of plebe year he had 2 kidney stones....I think the pressure these kids are under academically and otherwise is great and it caues their immune systems to go on overload; with the flu virus going around now I think that the decreased immune response adds to the "spread" of the flu factor.

Hang in there everyone!:thumb:

I am sure he will start to feel better as soon as the antibiotics kick in. Maybe it wasn't the flu at all.

Actually, I think it is a double whammy. He was told by the medical staff, after cultures came back, he had the "A" flu.....which I think is swine, but doesn't the swine come in four flavors and H1N1 is only one of the four?

Just read an article about he flu percentage projections for the U.S. this year....pretty high predictions....hopefully they won't come to being "worst case" highs of around 40% of the general population.

Same here about our young man being healthy and strong....very few minor issues in 17+ years. Doctor Mom here at home (a nurse) has been pointing out similar things. Stress (physical, mental and emotional) do put us at higher risk of illness. Stess is a designed in part of the this experience. The herd needs to be thinned.........The unfortuante dynamic here, and in other similar environments, is that when you place a few infected carriers among large numbers in confined spaces, sharing bathrooms, pools, swim gear (big orange suits?) etc.etc. etc. People are going to come down with the illness. It may not be just a thinning of the herd that is taking it's toll on the overall population.
