Does anyone know how the walk-on process works at the academy in conjunction with Beast/Plebe Summer? Any information on tryouts? Thanks.

I spoke with the deputy athletic director in person and he told me there is something called Mass athletics during the first part of BEAST where recruited athletes go to their respective teams and anyone interested in joining a team can go workout with that team. In other words, you will have a chance to workout with the football team, and if the coach likes you, you'll get a chance to walk on.

I also will be trying out to walk on. I have been training hard for the past 8 months and can't wait to get a chance to show what I can do. Good luck and hopefully you and I will be teammates some day!

Thank you very much for the info!

If you weigh 172 and under, consider Sprint Football.
WP has a great Sprint team. They have won the championship for the last 2 years by beating Navy.
And they've got big blingy rings to prove it! :thumb:

^^ This year, a plebe playing Sprint Football did well enough to garner an invitation to join the Army team as a full member of the team. So, even if your attempts to walk-on aren't fruitful, if you can play sprint and make an impact, the possiblity to play as a corps athlete exists.

Walk On

We actually had a guy recruited from his WP Company intramural team. He ended up being the starting running back for most of his cadet time. He was also our Plebe pugel stick champion. Tough guy!
