Footwear for plebes

My daughter is many states away in NJ for the next several weeks and I’m at home worried how we will handle her footwear needs. Running shoes/Brooks, we’ve got covered but what shoes will she need during Indoc and beyond? Do they fit and assign boots at the Academy?

If this question has been asked and answered anywhere else, thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction!
 
Oh and I’d love to know 2 more things, please.

1. What’s the best way to purchase a USMMA flag? I’m assuming the on campus store is closed.

2. Do the plebes bring their own backpack for carrying school books during the year? If not, how should I go about purchasing one? DD got a nice one from USCGA during AIM and used it her Senior year. She’d love one like that from USMMA, even if we have to pay for it. I use ‘we’ in a general term 😉
 
All footwear except running shoes will be provided by USMMA. Make sure the running shoes are some combination of blue/gray and are broken in. Buy decent insoles for the boots and low quarters. Backpack will be provided by USMMA. We got our USMMA flag from one of the parents groups. Sorry I can't remember which one.

Make sure your DD only brings what is on the required list for INDOC. More is not better. When you get the permit to report instructions, you will have the option to buy most of the required items from USMMA. I highly recommend buying that package of stuff. It will make life so much easier when your DD reports. It will all be waiting for her in her room. If she brings her own stuff, she will have to lug it around all day when she reports.

We got our flag from USMMA Southern States Parents Association at Indoc. They also have an online shop if you want to support.

I think the instructions will tell you to have white running shoes for Indoc. Just make sure they are mostly white or light grey. Break them in before Indoc. You may want to consider sending 2 pair.

The only reason I remember that is because it caused consternation (can there be other colors on the shoes? what about grey?) while DS was trying to acquire everything on "the list." 🙄
