For Those Awaiting an Appointment/TWE

My DD was Med DQ she sent her waiver in and they asked for doctor records bless the Dr office they turned all the paperwork over to us in 24 hrs. She emailed called every other day no one returned emails or calls four months after the DQ she got a letter saying her waiver was approved. So don't put much into not hearing anything back from your calls and emails.
They replied to my son within 10 hours but it wasn't encouraging. She intimated that all of us not accepted would know by the end of next week.

Still waiting...DD has 3 noms, none primary but qualified and candidate on portal. No activity since November when application was complete. Keeping fingers crossed and plan b and c are in place.
Do you mind me asking what plans B and C are?

Plan B is self prep school if not offered falcon scholarship or usafaps and plan C is AFROTC at University of choice, offered type 2 for 4 years.

I would think hard about self prep vs an AFROTC scholarship. In my eyes, it would depend on what they really need. If they have a strong academic background, can handle challenging college classes, and mature enough to succeed without a bunch of guidance, the ROTC scholarship is the better option. If your DD needs the extra academic preparation and some guidance to mature then the self prep would be a better option. There is nothing guaranteed and having a year of college will have him further along in his career if it does not work out. A successful year at a normal college is valued by the academy. Participating in ROTC also opens up a service connected nomination source.

Thank you for the advice...we will give all options good consideration. Her act math was low, which was her Achilles heel. All else she was very competitive and would be thrilled with getting an offer for the usafaps or falcon scholarship, but for now waiting and hoping.

Thank you for this thread. It keeps me from getting super excited every time I see the appointment thread at the top of the page thinking a "wave" has started. :)

We are visiting our Plan B school Sunday/Monday for admitted students day. My son has finally decided that it was time to do this as he patiently checks the portal daily for a yes or a no and still sees no change.

It's hard! I see my son slowly reach and begin to implement his plan B. Plan B has been his dream until he found the service academy and the USAFA. He will find his footing where ever he lands

Did that this weekend ....good to have all ducks in a row. Good Luck everyone!

I have been checking this forum incessantly for weeks in hopes of trying to figure out this whole process. I finished my application and medical profile in November and have gotten ZERO updates on either portal since November (DODMERB or USAFA Portal) with the exception of my AFA portal showing my congressional nomination.

My application is currently "complete but medically disqualified" and my waiver is "pending review." My liaison officer and counselor have been unresponsive whenever I try to get an update on my application, and now it seems like my window is closing. I don't come from a military family, so any advice regarding how I should proceed would be greatly appreciated!

I would keep contacting the admissions officer. My DS was in the same boat, and eventually a waiver was processed and he received an offer on Friday. Good luck.

I really thought this morning might be the morning to see some results. Anyone out there hear anything? I keep hearing this magical April 15th date. Do you think that's for appointments only? Will waiting list recipients hear then? Will rejections hear then?

I think that's going to be a massive wave of TWE's :( along with a few last minute appointments. Seems like the appointments have slowed down tremendously and from what I've seen in prior posts, and of history dictates, mid-April sees all the TWE's, some preps, and scholarships. But it's not over yet!

Although right after my other reply I saw someone in TX posted an appointment in the appointment thread. So as I said...Not over yet!

Somebody from TX posted this morning on the appointments thread that they received an email and portal update this morning with an appointment. My gut tell me they will be sporadically released this week as they finalize the last slots for the class of '21. I think the wave of TWE's will be Fri/Sat. Good luck all.

Is your DS still in waiting mode too? I believe he was on the same emotional train as my DD being turned down by USNA too, right? What is his Plan B?

Yeah, still waiting. I think he's come to grips that a TWE will be coming forward this week and he has mentally moved on. His Plan B is to accept the 4 year AFROTC scholarship he was offered. He was also offered a $10k scholarship from the President of the university to help offset R&B.

Same boat here. Me thinks they have already denied DS, so why the wait? I'd have more respect if they just told us as soon as possible. Been waiting since November, checking many times everyday. I doubt anyone is fighting for him out there. 5 months to make a decision, DS is starting to think this was a mistake, doesn't want to be associated with an organization that operates like this.

Still waiting here. As each day passes son is beginning to realize that the appointment is not coming. The focus and efforts are on plan B and deciding between an AFROTC or NROTC scholarship.

Good luck and all the best to everyone this week! My mommy anxiety is in overdrive. Keeping it all inside because I need to be there so I can support my son. Thankful for all the fine folks on this board who are quite a support group.

Your not alone sister, :)

DS received TWE from USNA 2 weeks ago. Starting to come to grips that USAFA may be sending him a TWE soon. He had a plan B prior to receiving Navy TWE but now is considering going in a different direction. He believes he did not receive and offer of appointment from Navy because his ACT was a bit low and that he might not have been the MOC Primary Nominee? He received nominations from 2 Senators and 1 Congressman to USNA. Only one Senator nominated him to USAFA.

Question: How did others find out they were the MOC Primary Nominee?

I know this process is difficult. One takeaway I got from my DS's MOC board was that most of these young people have never experienced much failure in their youth. The reason they are even in a position to still be a candidate, is because they are some of the best in the country.

While it may seem cruel to be waiting, this is life. It's a teaching moment. He can learn from this experience, or be soured by it. I am sorry that he thinks that being associated with an "organization like operates like this" is a mistake..

Many good people work hard in this process.. Some of them spend many volunteer hours, such as ALO's to help young people get to this point..

Failure won't define him, but how he acts in the face of it in life will.. Eventually all of these young people will fail, after achieving so much in their short lives. I hope that your son finds a way to overcome his disappointments in life, without looking at it as a negative! Good luck to all that are still alive!!
