For those of you still waiting...

Would a female with a 29 composite stand pretty low in the national pool? I would be surprised if all of us waiting are in the national pool already, I feel like not very many appointments have gone out...

I don't think anyone can answer that question. It would be dependent upon how you are ranked in relation to everyone else in the national pool.

As for the MOC slates, if someone that was appointed decided not to accept, then it seems to me that someone else on that slate would be chosen.

I also know a student who got his appointment at the end of May last year. He had 24 hours to decide if he wanted it.

Do you happen to know if the "composite" is referring to a literal composite on act/sat scores or the points on someone's actual application?

They will take your best scores and create a composite from that. So, if you take the ACT twice and you scored better in math on one, and better on reading on the other, they take those best scores and create the composite.

Overall, there's a formula that they use to add up all your qualifications and come up with a score. Certain things are weighted, some actually subtract. It's a pretty complicated formula. That's why no one can give you a definitive answer about chances.

Sorry for all the questions...
You mentioned when you are placed into the national pool they look at your name and your composite...are you talking about test score composite scores or the scores the academy gave you on your application?
Also, what can subtract points from your app?

Your test scores are a part of the total score. One of the ALOs on this forum could probably answer better than I.

An example: they give you "small" weights based on the state you're in. Colorado is the base state. Arizona, my state, has something like -0.02. Not anything significant. Realize, however, the report I read is a few years old and these things could have changed.

From air force admissions:
Candidates: Majority of appointment offers made; National Enrollment Confirmation Day May 1.
So as suspected, majority of appointments are out already. Weird I still have heard nothing from my district. My guess is just a few ultra competitive slates have yet to be decided

"not rejected yet" but looking at Plan B and C and D, etc., now....

:frown:

I believe it is true that a majority of offers have been made as of now. Yet I believe there are a few hundred left and a smaller wave (not as big as the 20th of March) are left. Again though this is speculation.... Or possibly just desperation. Still no news of anyone from my district, and only one from my state to my knowledge has been appointed.

If a candidate is living in an as yet undecided district, does that mean that he/she is not yet on the NWL and therefore at a disadvantage to others in already decided districts?

By any chance are you from NJ?

I think that question would be better answered by one of the ALO's on here. I would say that the NWL would have to wait until all slates are decided. On a Side note I just got off the phone with my ALO and she said that it is not uncommon at all to not have heard anything back yet from the academy. She believed there is still a sizable group of appointments that were remaining to be offered. She also said she is unsure what the academy sends her if one of her candidates is not offered an appointment... so maybe that means all of her candidates get accepted :thumb:

My DS's ALO said he would find out before her. However, a friend of a friend of a friend who know someone in Admissions, said my DS's "file" was in the "last group" for review/decisions end of March/beginning of April.

My DS does not have a nomination yet. Missed opportunity for Congressional, so only eligible for VP after that (long story). Not sure if that means he's in the "national pool" or what. Bottom line is they are still making offers.

JP Eagle, I am also from Nebraska. Who nominated you, and have you heard anything from anyone in Nebraska?

hopefully il-08 is one of the last districts being reviewed. i cant wait to hear back!

Simonedury, I was nominated for USAFA by Rep. Smith. I have heard only of one person from Nebraska being appointed via. the appointment thread on here.

I saw somewhere on this forum that there is about 10% participation on the forum. And there are only 90+ appointees listed on the 2018 Appointment Thread.

My DS has two classmates that have received appointments, neither of which is listed on the Appointment Thread.

That contradicts what they stated shortly after the 20th, which was that there was another wave of appointments that would be coming the following week...which never came from what I can tell on this forum.
