Could you give a brief synopsis of your academic background? I am trying to determine how my DS stands against those that have already been selected. He checks all the boxes when comparing to previous classes, but 2021 will have their own stats. We are waiting (not) so patiently for some good news.

GPA
ACT or SAT Score
Class Rank
Varsity Sport
Extra Curriculars

Sure. Here's a summary of me:
Approx 4.2 GPA W, 3.7 UW
At the 15% margin of my class
1300 SAT, 680 Math, 620 CR
3rd in command JROTC, President of Beta, Student body, and another honor society
Officer in about 2-3 other clubs and member in NHS
Varsity letters in wrestling, XC, lacrosse, wrestling captain
Spent two full summers volunteering/interning at my state's War Memorial working with vets, giving tours, helping with events, etc
Was a youth group officer and a church volunteer for a few years
Member in Civil Air Patrol for a year or two, wasn't very active in it
Went to several leadership summer camps including two military leadership training courses that were both a week each
So that's the important stuff I'd say. Also have worked a part time job and stuff like that but wasn't a big deal. Was a PNom from my MoC, got the appointment little over 3 weeks ago. Any questions I'd be happy to answer

Just received my appointment and I can agree with you about that wait. It was just about the longest few months of my life.

Here are most of my application stats:

GPA: 4.0 (our school doesn't weigh AP or dual enrollment)

Class rank: 4 out of 300 (yes 300 on the dot crazy right)

ACT:
ACT math: 31
Science: 33
Reading: 32
English: 33
Writing: oh man don't even remember but it was only a little above the national average.
Schedule: the most rigorous course options available at the school. This will vary between schools, but admissions can see what classes were available and if the applicant chose the difficult path or not.

EC's:
Varsity soccer 4 years. Captain 1.
Varsity XC 3 years co captain 1.
Math club 3 years president 1
Chess club 4 years
Band 4 years section leader 2
Eagle Scout
NHS
Church Council youth delegate

CFA: slightly above average in each area (except the stupid b-ball throw)

Keep in mind that some people that receive appointments will look a lot better than this and some others will look not as good. It really depends on the competition in the district (or state if it's a senatorial nomination, or whatever the pool is from whatever nomination your DS received). But even if they get put on the national waiting list, it's not impossible to get an appointment. You can always get your applicant to call or email his regional commander and ask what his chances are looking like. Most will give you a little insight. hope this helps a little!

GPA: 4.0 Unweighted & 4.65 Weighted (8 AP's total)
Class Rank: 1 of 467

SAT: Composite: 1450, English/Writing: 700, Math: 750

EC's:
Eagle Scout
Junior Assistant Scoutmaster
Senior Patrol Leader
Order of the Arrow (if that makes a difference, lol)
Varsity Tennis Team Captain
Varsity Letter 2x
~100 volunteer hours at hospital ICU/CCU
NHS
CSF
USABO Co-Founder
Debate Club Vice President
NMSF Commendation
Part time job
Private tutor

With all that said, I think the biggest reason why I was given the offer of appointment is because I'm bilingual in English and Korean. I think USMA is looking for people who perhaps will be able to perform military duties overseas (Foreign Area Officer?)

GPA 4.55? W 3.7 UW

Class Rank
I'm somewhere in the top 30 out of 450 I think. 6 AP classes.

ACT
36 Reading
35 English
27 Math
32 Science

Lacrosse 9th-12th
CFA, max on a couple things, above average on others

• Self-taught multilingual Spanish, French, Louisiana Creole, and some others not as fluent
• Officer Model UN
• Mission Trip interpreter
• Volunteer Latin American Coalition and some other community service
• French and Spanish Clubs
• NASS 2016
• NHS
• Tutoring

Got my Senator's P-Nom.

I worried about a lot of things that would make them pass me up. I worried about getting an 85 in Algebra 2 sophomore year and sending an 83 for my first semester AP Calc. I worried about not going to Boy's State. I worried about not having taken AP Physics. I worried about not being a captain on my lacrosse team. I worried about all of those things and I got an appointment. Just focus on what you're good at and be the best. Practice interview questions and read, read, read about your academy and things written by great people. Hang in there.

FAOs are awesome. I got to talk to one recently. I think they've recently expanded the program. Remember that you can't get into until you've been for about 5 years, though. The one I talked to flew helicopters before.

As often mentioned in many prior posts, there isn't a lot of value in trying to compare your stats to others in an effort to determine your chance for an appointment. Many factors are considered by admissions, no one on here knows the exact formula and other factors like teacher recommendations which we will never see also enter into this.

time2 is right on. Not only is it tough to compare, but you are also competing against others on your slate which can vary significantly. That said, it can give a general idea of what is expected.

Letter from Senator, letter from MOC, portal update, BFE. In that order.

How were you guys notified of your appointment? Portal, mail, or both?
I was nominated by both my senator and congressman, however I only received a phone call by the former on Jan. 17. Shortly after I received the BFE and about 2 days later my portal updated.

I received an loa for prep

Were you ever 3Q'd or did they not academically qualify you because of the essays? or were one of you ACT scores low? Just curious because everything I read said you had to be academically disqualified in order to get prep? However, congratulations, I hear it is a golden ticket!

DS Appointed USMA:

ACT 33 comp; 34E, 33 R, 32M, 36 S [best of 2]
SAT 1420 comp; 740 M, 680 R
4.25 GPA weighted with numerous AP courses incl. calc and physics
No class rank calculated :(

6 Varsity letters [thru apt date] including 2 ea in Football, Basketball, Track.
MVP / Captain / QB roles on team sports [leadership]

co-founder and officer of HS business club, NHS, parish volunteer work, part time jobs

CFA: max pullups / pushups, goal situps / shuttle run / bball throw, 7 min mile

Don't forget the CFA !! They asked him to upload videos of pushups and pullups to verify; apparently they have been getting cadets who underperform vs CFA results . . . He redid these 2 on camera with same results.

Study and workout relentlessly . . . it all matters.

Does being of age make it easier to get an appointment?

You must be between 17 and 22. Age doesn't improve your WPS (whole person score).
