Don't be discouraged!!!

Correct me if I'm wrong but around 500 people got appointments today. West Point has around 1200 new cadets every year! Assuming that there were 100 appointments before or reserved for USMAPS candidates, THERES STILL 600 APPOINTMENTS LEFT!

And, worst-case scenario, you don't receive an appointment this year, use your backup plan. Apply again next year if you want. This is not your only chance to go to West Point, and West Point is not your only option to serve.

NEEDED this!!!

I was nervous yesterday for my DS. Didn't hear from him during the day so when he got home from school I asked if he saw anything new on his portal. His response, "I haven't even checked it today, I'll check it later though". He didn't get an appointment but I honestly don't think it even concerned him at this point. He's proceeding with his school visits and possibly playing college football, unless he happens to get an appointment. I was glad to see that he's taking it all in stride, probably better than his parents.

Correct - there are still many slots yet to be offered/accepted. Now's the time to both stay positive and also ensure one is working on backup plans such as ROTC or civilian school. Plus you can reapply next year. If military leadership is the goal, then there are plenty of paths to get there.

Waiting patiently for the mail, did anyone get an email before they received the appoitntments

Typically you may get a phone call from your MOC congratulating you of your appointment. If this happens, you should get a BFE in the mail followed by the portal update.

She got a call that she received the Principle nomination... and her portal in all complete

She should get a BFE or portal update then. If not today, don't fret because if everything is complete, she will receive it soon!

Thank you.....I think I’m stressing more than my DS! He has his 4-year ROTC Scholarship so he can still achieve his dream of serving. I need to take a chill pill and let the process work! 😉
